This has been in my mind for quite a while now. I thought about how the world is getting overpopulated, and babies are being born more that people are dieing. And it will eventually come to the point where we would run out o natural resources for everyone. So could that maybe be a reason why god created us?

God created me because He needed a little more entertainment in His world.

Friends,
I have a naturalistic view of human existence. LGBT people exist simply because we are part of the natural biological diversity that exists. It appears in some studies that male homosexuality appears to be a biological trait passed through women. The thought is that women who have non-reproducing relatives, (e.g. gay brothers, gay sons) may have a biological advantage because they have the help of non-reproducing relatives in furthering the survivial of their own offspring. I believe in human community. LGBT people have a lot to offer human community. The idea that all anyone has to contribute boils down to the mere reproduction of their own offspring is too narrow an idea. Life is more complex than that. If we are going to survive the coming crisis of global warming and all the related problems of over-population etc., we are going to need all the creativity and effort that everyone can muster LGBT or non-LGBT. I really can't understand why God does much of anything, and I have really given up asking "why" of God. But I can see as I look around me that God loves diversity. There is diversity in all of creation.
Even in the littlest things there is a chaos of variation. I have been doing remodeling work at home and have been using a lot of oak. Each board is different. I purposly use the least uniform, most varied pieces in the most visible locations. I love the knots and swirls. I think maybe gay individuals are like the boards with the knots. We don't look like the others. We don't fit in as well. We are more obvious. And in the end our variety makes the whole world more beautiful. From a biological perspective homosexuality should be a trait that disappears from the species since it so limits reproduction. However since God continues to create gays in every generation, I believe that we must be indeed valued and loved by God in a special way. Tu Amigo, Pablo

Food for thought:
I have mentioned this on a previous post but I think it has value today. At any given measurement nearly precisely 50% of all children born are male and 50% born are female. Why so precise and consistent? My answer is that it is part of the inherent design of the species. A species that is extremely successful. Why does the measurement of percent the human popluation always come out 10% gay (give or take a 5% error) Same answer. It is an inherent part of the design of the species! Sweeties! we are part of the design that is responsible for the success of the species. Without us it would be less so!

I think that may be part of it. I mean, I think God has much more plans for us than just "balancing the population," but I certainly think we are part of El's plan for overpopulation. I also wonder if we help balance the extremism in many areas. I don't know any statistics, but I feel pretty safe saying that most gays who are out (obviously not those who are closeted) are fairly liberal, and they provide a sort of political balance. But we also have so many gifts and talents that El wants us to use "to be a blessing unto all nations."
That's my thoughts, for now.
