Question Public Opinion?

Ok so I had my Motorcycle permit before and I let it lapse when I sold my old bike. Now I have decided to buy a new on and I am taking my Permit/License test tomorrow, 26-Apr-06. So I wanted to see what all of you thought of motorcycles ... or how insane I am.

Well I am getting a 2004, Honda Shadow 1100cc

Good for you! Just be careful. Drivers are not always very nice to bikers. At least not here in New England. My friend Bea gave up her bike saying that drivers on the roads were not paying attention to the bikes. SHe felt unsafe. SHe was a good rider as well.

I know several lesbian friends who might jump on me for saying this, but I have just two words for a motorcycle. Death Machine.

My brother had one of those Kawasaki Ninjas and I was glad the day he sold it. My boyfriend keeps saying he wants one and I told him no way would I ever get on the back. I'm all about seat belts and air bags everywhere.

Safety-conscious, that's me. But this is you. And if you insist on having one, be sure and buy a good helmet and suit up like you're running for International Mister Leather.

Default Interesting you should ask...

I was actually just looking into motorcycles myself as a way to get around gas prices. There are free motorcycle lessons at our local office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot) and I've been thinking of trying them to see if it would work out for me.

If you know how to ride already and are going tog et one, more power to ya. I've never ridden one, but I'd love to try.

Maybe someday soon....

I don't really think they're safe... but they look really fun and I would love to at least ride one some time and see..

I really want something that is motorized and rides on two wheels. Perhaps a scooter even (gas efficient), but that is the one thing that my partner absolutely won't let me have. Too dangerous. Bummer.

Talking

I loving hitching a ride on a byke - but, I can't help but think of how much it would hurt if the byke took a dive. Yikes! But they are fun, and Shadows are great - about as much power as a Harley but way less noise (Thanks Venari for that!).

Anyway, you have to be twice as careful as driving - once for yourself and once for everyone else. And yup, wear lots of leather!
