After reading it, the biggest question that comes to mind is, "Would that be a bad thing?"

I'm not sure, but I'm inclined to think, "let 'em go."

Yes it is a bad thing. Not so much because of the kids parents. BUt imagine being a glbt kid and never hearing an alternative to the idea that gay=sin. So yes, I do think it is a bad thing.

I also recall reading (I wish I could remember where) that this was been introduced before, and that some influential SBC Pastors refused to go along with it. One of the big reasons was that many of their church members are public school teachers.

You know my Bible says we are to be salt and light to a dark world. Even though I am a lesbian and a Christian and a recovering Southern Baptist, I still think this is a reactionary denomination who pays lip service to the concept of grace, and is nothing more than whitewashed tombs that Jesus called the Pharisees.

It is striking and I don't think by accident how Jesus didn't say SQUAT about homosexuality, but he had plenty to say about the legalistic, ungodly Pharisees of his day. Wonder what he would say to Falwell, Dobson and the Southern Baptist Convention today?

I understand your thinking, Morn, and I appreciate that you focus on the way it affects the children. But that same hate can still be taught at home and have a strong effect even when the child hears something different at school. I feel for those poor kids too, growing up in a home of hate, but at least federal funds wouldn't be wasted. The ultimate responsibility of raising any child belongs to its parent(s) and if the parents teach hate, I'd still say to them, "Go home with your kids, you won't be missed."

But that's just me and I respect your different view, I really do.
