One Voice conference in New Orleans

The Task Force had a byline on their website about a conference Sept. 4-7 in New Orleans. It is a "convergence" of different faiths and Christian gays and lesbians. It looks to be very interesting and if I can arrange it, I will attend it. Just thought I would let you all know. Here's the link to the site if you are interested.

This sounds so awesome; I love New Orleans, my grandmother lived there for many years and we visited her there; and I have wanted to go back since Katrina to support the city. And, the gathering looks phenomenal.

I wish I lived closer......

I went to New Orleans 2 weekends ago. I participated in a protest with other transgender people at the HRC black tie dinner. I stayed with friends and was shown around New Orleans, it is awesome. If you go make sure to visit the French quarter during the day time and of course Bourbon street at night!
Oh ya, and the Task force thing too! That looks like something that people well read and conversant in biblical studies would really appreciate.

I want to go to New Orleans some day, hopefully withing the next couple of years. I have never been there but have been dying to go even before Katrina. Now I want to go to see things for myself. I'm also interested in grassroots activism for the poor, working class, and LGBT people.

There are a lot of the persons whom you want to most help there; I admire their tenacity in standing by their wonderous, beautiful city. Unfortunately, our government has done nothing but shun them. I am appalled by the apathy at our highest levels......

Your absolutely right, Vanessa. The government should be ashamed of itself.
Church groups and grassroot organizations have done the most to try to help the people.

From what I hear, Scott McClellan said that Geo. W. Bush was pretty much in denial about Hurricane Katrina, and New Orleans. And, one might guess, most anything else unpleasant that was going on in his administration.
