Default Brian Fischer and the Idaho "Values" Alliance

So, I was flipping through the radio today, and I stopped on our local Christian talk-radio station. They were giving a snippet of news about "homosexual unions" and their "effects" on kids. Brian Fischer, head of the Idaho "Values" Alliance, was the speaker and claimed that all sociologists agree that gay marriage is bad, that men and women are different, that children need a mother and a father, and all the standard crap. But, then he said something that made my day (ignoring the fact that people believe him). He said this: "While most sociologists agree that there are two genders, homosexual activists are trying to teach kids that there are five." FIVE??

So then I went up and told my not-so-liberal-but-still-young-and-in-the-grips-of-parents Brother, and we tried to figure it out. Counting GLBTIA each as a gender we came up with more than five. I don't exactly know if this man can do math, or if he thinks we can't do math (oh, the horror), but he must be insane. I wholeheartedly believe that now. I would post a link to his page, but I don't want a gateway to hell opened.

So, I did a little more research on this sad, no-longer-funny alliance. Their arguments on nearly every subject are flawed. Entirely flawed. If you want a good laugh, look at his website.

I have a feeling he was going for straight men, straight women, gay men, lesbians, and bisexual. Though you'd think he'd classify bisexual as two, and I don't know why he'd use the word 'gender' instead of the more correct word 'orientation'.

Further, I'm not sure I follow his (il)logic.

Yeah, that's what my friends and I thought, but then he forgot transgender and single people (using his logic). Oh well.

There's five biological sexes. Maybe this fact makes him uncomfortable?

These people just seem to flaunt their ignorance, bigotry and malice everywhere they go. They do not spread light, they spread darkness, which is why I am very careful around Christians until I find out that they are accepting and not just interested in spreading hate. These people are not interested in Truth..just their version of it.

It's so frustrating to be fighting this battle in the year 2008. *sigh*

Gender is about who a person is. Orientation is about who a person is attracted to.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE AND CIVIL UNIONS
Bryan Fischer, Executive Director
Idaho Values Alliance

Here are some truth points that will help you in your own understanding of the issues surrounding gay marriage and civil unions. In addition, these truth points can help you in discussions with family members, friends, and co-workers, and in crafting letters to the editor of your local newspaper.
Every lie in the book on that page, including the infamous Dutch Study:

Quote:
A British journal published a study that indicated that male homosexual relationships last, on average, only 18 months, and that during that time, each partner has an average of eight outside sexual partners.
There are a number of things wrong with that statement used to describe “homosexual relationships,” including, as Jim Burroway of Box Turtle Bulletin notes: "monogamous partners were explicitly excluded."

A study that excluded monogamous relationships is being used to show that gay relationships are non-monogamous.

How’s that for Christian morality?
