Default ...Emma

Allo. I'm Emma, 17, bi and.. well, mostly Christian. Living in England and doing A levels currently - or would be if it weren't the summer holidays. Found Soulforce through google, after hearing mention of it from some nut ranting about how a webcomic about a unicorn is spreading "acceptance of the sin of homosexuality throughout the internet.. like that disgusting soulforce online!". It was as much recommendation as I needed.

Thankfully I've not had the experience of believing my sexuality to be "wrong" since I was 13 or 14... or just before whenever it was I gave in and stopped attempting to be straight, my memory is about as useful as a chocolate fireplace. On the other hand, although I make no secret of being bi to anyone, my parents haven't asked and I haven't told, and I'm pretty happy to avoid that conversation for as long as possible.

I'll now attempt to imprint registering here upon my mind, or a handy piece of paper, as it's 1am and I'll probably decide tomorrow that it was just a dream. If I never post again, it's nothing personal

Emma

PS: Oohh, a question. The rules say no signature images. So why's the "upload a signature image!" feature turned on? *blink*

Welcome, Emma. Pleased to have you here. I define as bi, too, when pressed to choose an identification. Usually I prefer to leave it vague. Anyway, I'm close to twice your age and married, yippeee, to the greatest husband in the world.

Wha-a-a-a-at? A unicorn??????? Doing what??

Glad you found SF through it, whatever all that ranting was about.

What part of England are you in? Hubby and I just got back from vacation and we were in the UK for a few days. Love the seemingly endless rolling expanses of green.

Thankfully I've not had the experience of believing my sexuality to be "wrong" since I was 13 or 14... or just before whenever it was I gave in and stopped attempting to be straight,

Wow, you were trying to be straight when you were younger than 13? How young were you when you knew you were bi?

(I was about 6 or 7 when I knew.)

my memory is about as useful as a chocolate fireplace.

Never heard that one before. That's brilliant.

On the other hand, although I make no secret of being bi to anyone, my parents haven't asked and I haven't told, and I'm pretty happy to avoid that conversation for as long as possible.

I can understand that. It may be a good idea to wait a while, depending upon what your relationship is like with your parents and the kinds of attitudes they have expressed around this issue. Better to be safe, and sometimes that means waiting til you're completely on your own and self-supporting.

Well I certainly hope you remember us and come on back.

But I have no idea about the tech question -- if technology were left up to me, we'd all be communicating via smoke signals.

Hello Emma,

I enjoyed your introduction. However, once I read the words, "about as useful as a chocolate fireplace" all I could think about was how cool it would be to have a chocolate fireplace.

Welcome to the group.

Rick

Emma,
Welcome to Soulforce. I will have to admit I loved the chocolate fireplace. I hope you don't mind if I steal it from you. That was simply brilliant. I hope jolly old England has few of those ranting about the "evil homosexuality". England could teach Americans a few things about equality. I consider America a child of England, and all of Europe for that matter. We need to remember where we came from.
Welcome and hope you stay around for awhile.

I live in a suburb in Berkshire (south, about 40 miles west of London). Not so much in the way of rolling fields . But my journey to college takes me along the Thames, which is indeed very picturesque.

Somewhere between 9-11, I lived a pretty sheltered life with conservative parents, and in a very middle class area, so I hadn't thought about sex or sexuality at all before that. Although I did kiss my first girl when I was 7, lol, but it was a stunt - came back to bite me at secondary school, which is partly why I was so adamant to believe I was straight.

Feel free to steal it, pnggrad, I stole it from a friend originally!

And thanks for the welcome, both of you and Rick.

Welcome Emma ,

Glad you found us and I am going to promptly do a "unicorn" search when I finish writing this. I hope you stay around and give us the opportunity to get to know you. There are some great people here.

Default Welcome Emma.

So glad that you found your way to us here. Who knew that Soulforce was so despised in certain circles? well, not in the ones that I run in, at least......This place has been a complete miracle to me; it has opened me up in so many ways and helped me to make many new friends as well.....

I am also clueless about the tech stuff; but I am sure there is SOMEONE here that could help you with that; just not me or Zerb.

I also love the chocolate fireplace; that will be quite useful in the future, me thinks. I live in the Northeastern part of the US, and have a partner of eleven years and we have a ten year old daughter. Life is good......

Peace, Vanessa
