My intent is to creat a website that becomes known as an international rebuff of Exodus' "Change is Possible" program. Your help is GREATLY appreciated!
Please visit www.loveispossible.com and review the areas that need contribution. I'm specifically looking for: Testimonies of how you reconciled your faith & sexuality How your family did... How your church did... (Include photos, websites, etc.) I'm looking for websites, blogs, videos & stories from anyone who has been through an "ex-gay" ministry. I'm looking for supportive & affirming churches & ministries. If you don't have a website or a blog, just send me your story and some pictures and I'll put it on the site. Include at least your first name AND an email address that can be posted publicly. On almost all "ex-gay" sites the stories & "testimonials" they have are not verifiable and I want this site to have more integrity. (I probably won't post the email addresses and instead just create a simple way for people to contact you through an online form without them having your information.) Please send all contributions to: contribute@loveispossible.com Thanks! Nathan Black |

Nate -- that's a wonderful idea! I don't think I know anyone who has been through an ex-gay ministry (though I might be surprised if I start asking people), but I certainly will direct folks to your new website. Thanks for doing this.

I'd love to contribute! I'm going to have to think about what I want to put on and maybe find a decent picture....
I'm also thinking of making a new e-mail address for just this site, just in case...

This is a great idea. Something like this is needed to help those effected by the misinformation coming from the ex-gay ministeries.
Thanks Nathan. Rick

I don’t know if this is something you’d want to include, but one thing I’ve been wanting to do is to start cataloging their responses when informed of/asked about the misrepresentations and deceptive claims they make. So that when you mention that they are deceptive about something, obviously you’ll back it up with evidence and information that can be verified, but you can also show what their response or non-response to that evidence was when they were presented with it.
These are from PFOX but I’m sure most of it applies to Exodus, I’ve visited their site before too. Examples: -Each year thousands of men and women with same sex attractions make the personal decision to leave homosexuality. = No stats to back up the implication that they are all now ex-gay. -No one is born gay. All scientific studies, including those by gay scientists, have not found any gay gene or gay brain center. = Absence of evidence is the “proof” used to conclude that “No one is born gay” -Science is used to legitimize the MOST unscientific method of determining truth, ASSUMPTION. Not to mention that the entire basis of their motives are based on religion which discludes science as legitimate (except of course when it’s convenient). -If no one is born gay, how can you be ex-gay? And how is celibacy considered being ex-gay, wouldn’t that be just a glorified version of ‘abstinence only education?’ I’d like to see their answers to these. I could rip those sites apart, and list exactly what to ask. Might be too much material for your site but it might be something to focus on as far as your stories testimonials go, what they actually said to similar questions of logic when presented with them. Or perhaps a section on how they intentionally "Frame" their claims and assertions and how deceptive they are in presenting them.
