Hutcherson is angry at eHarmony

Dr. Ken Hutcherson is pastor of the mega-church Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington and is angry at eHarmony for "bowing" to the demands of homosexuals. Gays sued eHarmony for inclusion into their couples match-up business. Hutcherson says that eHarmony is wrong to allow homosexuals to use it's business to meet other members of the same sex. He says, ""To bow and say okay…that is turning against God......" Hutcherson believes the Bible is God's words and condemns homosexuality and encourages all of America to do the same.

Hutcherson, who is African American, doesn't mention what the Bible says about another sensitive issue; slavery. I would think that since he's from African decent, and is well aware of America's history with slavery, he would be in tune with what the Bible says on the subject.

Here's what it says:

Exodus Chapter 21, verse 1: Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them. When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's and he shall go out alone. But if the slave plainly says, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,' then his master shall bring him to God, and he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for life.

Exodus Chapter 21, verse 20: If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

Exodus Chapter 21, verse 32: If the bull gores a male or female slave, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver to the master of the slave, and the bull must be stoned.

Leviticus Chapter 22, verse 10: No one outside a priest's family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the guest of a priest or his hired worker eat it. But if a priest buys a slave with money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.


Leviticus Chapter 25, verse 44: Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.


Colossians, chapter 3, verse 22: Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever your task, work heartily...

Titus, chapter 2 verse 9: Bid slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to be refractory, nor to pilfer, but to show entire and true fidelity

Since Hutcherson claims that the Bible is God's word, how does he explain that the "creator of the universe" states that homosexuality is unacceptable but that slavery is perfectly fine? The Bible clearly says that beating your slaves is okay, and that enslaving children and separating slave families is acceptable. In fact, according to the Bible, it is perfectly okay for everybody to own a slave. Of course, any rational thinking person today knows that slavery is an outrage.

But I'm curious what Hutcherson thinks about the Bible's approval of slavery. Would he admit that maybe the Bible is WRONG about slavery just as it is about homosexuality?

Probably not. Because Hutcherson is just like James Dobson, Rick Warren, Pat Robertson, Donald Wildmon, and the leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention. They pick out Bible verses to bash homosexuality while completely ignoring other scripture. They are repulsed by homosexuality so they cherry pick scripture to bash LGBT people. It cannot be more clear that they are abusing the Bible to support their own hate. It's bigotry clear and simple.

He strikes me as one of those anti-gay males who are basically hopped up on their own testosterone, high on their own sense of masculinity. He's one you can tell truly ENJOYS hating gay men.

I was just going to quote from the Wikipedia article on hypermasculinity, but I just found this article on Hypermasculinity and the black male:

Not that those musicians are all anti-gay, but it ties more in with the slavery part.

I think I recall that Hutcherson has even spoken about having been taunted racially when he was playing football, and now it's "his turn." It was something like that, I know there's a video...

I didn't know eHarmony is open to GLBTs? My wife decided to give that a try a few years ago, went through the approx. 2 hour self-assessment, entered her preferences for meeting other women, and was told that eHarmony doesn't allow gays. So the company has decided to be completely open? That's great. Really good news. I wonder if the founder is/was ok with that? That would be an open-minded bit of progress!

I could be wrong, but I think it's just eHarmony in New Jersey, due specifically to a lawsuit brought about in regard to the state's anti-discrimination law.

The anti-gay complaint about the whole thing really does exemplify their hatred. They love hating us so much, that the prospect of our finding love upsets them to no end.

Yeah, personally I have no desire to use a service that's open to gay people because the courts told them they have to be. I find it interesting that their associates are criticizing them for the same reason: this wasn't anyone deciding to "do the right thing", this was avoidance of negative legal consequences.

Anything we do infuriates them. Their hate blinds them to what's really going on. We are struggling for equality like millions of others before us. But they only see us as attacking them and their way of life and they will go out of their way to lie and deceive their followers into believing we are out to destroy America.
