Default Soulforce Founder Mel White and Son to Compete in Amazing Race

http://www.towleroad.com/2009/01/soulforce-found.html

Quote:
Soulforce and Equality Ride co-founder and longtime gay activist Mel White will compete with his son screenwriter/actor/producer Mike White (who is bisexual) on the next season of The Amazing Race, AfterElton reports:

"Rev. Dr. White was once a ghostwriter for Jerry Falwell before coming out as gay and parting ways with the homophobic evangelical church. (His story is told in the documentary Friends of God and in his book Stranger at the Gate.) He is currently married to his husband, Soulforce co-head Gary Nixon. White's son, Mike, is known for appearing in movies like the brilliantly unsettling Chuck & Buck (which he also wrote), School of Rock (which he also wrote), and The Good Girl (which he wrote). He also wrote and directed Year of the Dog (starring Molly Shannon) and was one of the forces behind the shortly-lived fan fave series Freaks & Geeks (in which he also briefly appeared)."
Ok. Let the cheering on begin! And perhaps, also the training! Stamina!

Pretty big news. Seriously, this could help grab some of the movable middle.

I read the blog at towleroad. I don't understand. What are they competing for?

It's a reality show. I was surprised that it's on its 14th season already.

Thanks for the clip

I've never seen the show before, so this will be a first.

Patrick, ever heard of Black and White productions? That's Mike White and Jack Black, I believe Nacho Libre and School of Rock might both be theirs.

I'll look forward to watching it!

OK ... So we know for a fact that Mel survived this ordeal right? I thought the cheese ordeal was going to wreck him!

Where can I watch this online?

Addition: They finally uploaded it on the website. I started laughing every time someone mentioned that they'd never eat cheese again! Notice that Mel was challenged, but he was always the first to come up with a solution.

Mel and Mike definitely have brains that give them an advantage!

The Amazing Race is my #1 favorite reality show! So, I am excited to see Mel competing in it and doing well enough to avoid getting eliminated. I was so concerned that he and Mike would come in last at the pit stop. As for Mike being famous, I have to confess that I do not know who he is. As for the cheese task in Switzerland, it was hysterical to watch Mel scootching down that hill on his rear end clutching the giant wheel of cheese! I am a cheese junkie especially imported and artisan cheeses. I was just visioning that wheel of cheese cut up and sitting on crackers.

Default 2nd at pit stop

On leg #2 of the Amazing Race, Mel had me worried. He was in Germany getting ready to parasail off a mountain top. However, he could not do it for a long time because the wind conditions were not permissible. His other alternative was to run or walk down a gravel hill and that would have taken one hour. Because of his groin, he believed that he could not descend that hill so he had to wait for the wind to change in his favor. Meanwhile, the other teams took the option of descending the hill. Mel was getting fretful that he and Mike would be the last at the pit stop risking elimination. He was also saying that he could not ask the Deity to calm the winds so he can do the parasailing. Good news is that the winds did calm down. Mel did the parasailing. The next task was to do a Segway obstacle course. The option was to throw frosted cakes between Mel and Mike at their faces until they find a cake with cherry filling. They did the Segway although I wanted them to toss the cakes at each other.
They came in second at the pit stop.

I've never been a big fan of reality TV. But since Mel White and his son Mike are on the "Amazing Race" I find myself glued to the TV on Sunday nights cheering them along.

I'm already looking forward to next week's episode.

Now I have THREE episodes to catch up on! Maybe with the rain this weekend and 3 days off, I'll get caught up and get to watch the actual 4th episode Sunday night.

Sounds like Mel & Mike are doing fab-u-lous!!

Mel and Mike came in 4th place Sunday night. It was funny to see Mike running through the Siberian snow in his underwear.
