Just curious what the rest of you think of Howard Dean going on the 700 Club and "accidentally" denying the Democratic National Committee's platform position on gay rights?
As a former Deaniac, I'm appalled. There's no way I believe it was an accident. And it's all but ruined my respect for Dean. But it does raise a question I think Soulforcers should be raising awareness about in our local communities... Is Gay-Baiting necessary to win the elections in '06 &/or '08?

It *really* ticked me off...
Then, a few days later, I received a fundraising email from the Dem. party hq and "signed" by Howard himself... to which I responded... I'm sorry, but you expect me to contribute money when Howard Dean hasn't apologized for appearing on the insane, homophobic Pat Robertson's show AND cowtowing to his one man/one woman marriage mantra. Get back to me when you have some integrity. Nathan Black |

I've pretty much had it with the Democratic party. All they do is pander to whatever the people they are speaking to want to hear. However, I will probably continue to vote Democrat because I think their platform is less offensive than the Repugs.
I actually would tend to swing more toward the center, if it weren't for the gay marriage issue. I could vote for a more socially liberal Republican, but right now they don't seem to exist. In fact, most of my adult life, they don't seem to have existed. I supported John Kerry, though I wasn't sure he was the best pick from the Democratic party. He really disappointed me in the last two months leading up to the election -- he basically caved on every issue at hand. Then I kept getting fundraising calls from his office, asking me to give to this or that Democratic function, and I told the poor guy on the phone just what I thought of Kerry and how he gave up on the American people, left us with a madman in the White House. Oh boy, I gave him a piece of my mind. Of course, I told him it wasn't personal against him (the caller), per se, but to let John Kerry know how the Democratic voters felt he sold them out. Never got another call from the Democratic party after that! LOL! Don't even get me started on Hilary. Howard Dean -- that does disappoint. I had thought he at least said what he meant and believed in what he stood for. But he has proved himself to be a typical politician. I don't know who to vote for anymore. All I can say, is if we get another Bush in the White House (Jeb), I'm packing my partner and our cats in the car and driving to Canada. Susan |

I'm with you Rev. Dean is not a viable option for me. Politics has become the Far-Right stanglehold. The Democrats are showing no spine yet, and that makes me fear 4 more years (after this current Hell) of unbridled supremacy-based greed. I'm discouraged, but not down.

They're all whores.
And at the risk of appearing to respond to my own post (is that crazy? heck, no!), I will quote my brother who said: 'Whore' implies they are selling something somebody wants to buy. But if I hear one more Dem suck up to the right-wingers I think I'm gonna have to get help for my problem of frequently screaming at the TV. I'm not buying it and I am also tired of voting for the lesser of two evils!
