Saying "I can't explain something" isn't actually saying "I can't explain something": it's saying "I can't explain something except by..." which does logically follow. That said, pretty much all of my beliefs that are based on personal experience, because they're based on personal experience, I very much would NOT expect anyone else to believe. And not holding those beliefs, as he says, is not the same thing as someone telling ME "NO you're wrong". I'm glad he made that distinction, but he didn't really address the reasons WHY some people might be a little sensitive if that distinction isn't made in a given conversation.

That all said, he then goes on to talk about "many people" blah blah skeptical of science blah blah and I just have to take his word for it...there's a few ironic logical fallacies, but whatever. Like, I feel like he's had bizarre conversations that I've NEVER had. Either way he gets total props for the cheesy educational-video-music.

Smile That Was Pretty Cool!

That video reminded me of the day my church pastor called President Obama a Muslim and based it on an e-mail he had received without bothering to look up the evidence to see if it was true. We all know it isn't, of course, because I think President Obama would have told us so if he was. He is actually a Christian, just not a fundamentalist Christian. And here is something else that might interest you: A guy running for state Senator, a very fundamentalist Christian in my own opinion, came to our church one Sunday as our guest speaker, and while he was preaching the sermon, he told us this story about how he prevented a homosexual from becoming a member of the public school board just because the man was a homosexual. Pretty scary stuff, huh? I think Dr Mel White's book, Religion Gone Bad: The Hidden Dangers Of The Christian Right, should be recommended reading for all, especially those of us who don't want our rights restricted or worse just because we don't agree with everything or conform to what the Religious Right considers as normal and acceptable behavior for all Christians. YIKES!!!!!
