Did anybody see the topless photos of her? Laughed so hard. She's going to be irrelevant pretty soon. Conservatives will abandon her, and then she'll pose for Maxim to fill her need for attention. Then they'll all secretly buy the issue and hide it under their beds.

I don't think she should lose the Miss California crown over the photos. Even though she did violate the morality clause, they have a bikini competition that I'm pretty sure is judged by measuring Donald Trump's boner after each girl takes the stage.

NOM is actually starting to scare me. The coming storm was hilarious, honestly, but they want anti-sodomy/anti-homosexual laws back on the books. I don't know how long nonviolence will last if they start openly pushing for that.

Try not to be so negative about Dobson. It's better to allow people like him to exist in their theological perspective without denigrating them. GLBT's have for years fought for their perspective to be seen as valid and have been given voice.

This is just advice, but gleaning leftwing blogs for your positions about Prejean is not exactly being fair. I doubt many (if any) Evangelical Churches are teaching their youth to be bikini models.

The more anger, vitriol and hate meted out to Miss. California, the more ammo is supplied to keep the hatred flowing. Right now, it looks like it's only flowing towards her.

This isn't particularly a Christian website. Forum members are a diverse mix of a little bit of everything. The mission of Soulforce, as you can read on the links of the homepage, is to end religious oppression of GLBTQI people. Some people here identify spiritually as christians, some as other faith beliefs.

I thought it was. The justice rides seem to be going exclusively to Christian Churches and schools. Does Soulforce do demonstartions in Mosques, Ashrams, Temples and Synagouges?

but not exclusively just Christian. Most of the religious oppression in this country is carried out by people who call themselves Christian.

In the abbreviation GLBTQIA etc. Q may stand for questioning, or Queer, I usually stands for Intersex, A for ally, as in straight ally, and etc for anyone who feels themselves to be involved with the gay community, but was otherwise not named. Occasionally, the term Gender Variant is used.

According to the Huffington Post, what Miss Prejean said was:
"I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other, we live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman".

In other words, she is telling us that she believes that the country is, or should be tolerant to people of either gender attraction or marriage, but that her own personal and family beliefs are heterosexual.

She could have used better grammer, and expressed herself a lot more clearly, but I do not see any deliberate bigotry here.

Now just why anyone should claim that she is intolerant, or why one side should accuse her of bigotry, while the other takes her to their bosom is beyond me. Clearly, the waters have deliberately been muddied. Huffington has added a lot of spin on this one.

I don't believe Soulforce considers itself a "Christian" organization. It was founded by Christians, the Rev. Dr. Mel White and his husband, Gary, with the mission to end religious oppression of GLBT people (I added Q & I and as BruceChris indicated, the initials go on too). While the equality rides so far have concentrated on "christian" colleges, the work isn't restricted to ending oppression by christians. It's religious oppression which covers a lot of territory, and I believe the work is now being conducted in other countries as well as the USA.

PC, do you believe that gay people are oppressed by religion and religious people? I do, I have first hand experience of that oppression. Many others who post here do also. For those who aren't being oppressed or don't feel oppressed, they might not see life through our experiences. But if you read around the forums, I think you'll actually see some pretty real examples of that oppression.

It does seem that the Christian religions in themselves are very predjuctice against LGBT persons. You don't seem to find that as much in other religions. I do understand that Muslims are very antigay but that is just what I have been told, no first hand knowledge of weather that is their creed or not.

I think its sad that ONE religion thinks they have the right to tell everyone what morals they should have, who they should love etc. After all, when the Christian religion first came to Rome, it was considered a cult. The priest and such wanted to have the Christian religion envelope other religions so they started to use pagan holidays as THEIR holidays....such as Easter for Beltain, All Hallows Eve for Saimhain etc. Their feelings being such that it would be easier to convert the pagans if they had hollidays in common, and then they would work on extinguishing the pagan beliefs. They suceeded rather well, didn't they?

I guess that would technically still make Christainity a cult.
