Default Gay Teen commits suicide

There hasn't been any local coverage of this incident as of yet. I only know of it due to knowing the family through my family.

A 16 year old boy killed himself by shooting himself directly in the heart this past week. He was a quite kid and picked on at school because he "acted like he was gay". He was, but was to afraid to come out at school. I guess the harassment got to him.

Please everyone that reads this pray for his family in this time of grief. We have lost another of our brothers because of all the bigotry. I just wonder when it will end? When will they realize the actual harm they are doing to the LGBT community, especially the kids?

Peace,
Scott

This is so horrible. I'm at a loss for words.

This sort of pain is unmeasurable.

Why isn't this in the news?

It was in the news. Well at least the funeral was. They asked for donations to a local charity instead of flowers. They just reported that he had committed suicide, but the reasons were unknown. I found out it ran on the local TV stations.

Everyone that is close to the family and his friends all knew why he did it. I just don't think the family wants it made public. I don't really know. Everyone that I talked to has told me the same thing. It is just being kept quiet because the family doesn't want it made public.

Peace,
Scott

Sending love, light, and peace to this poor soul, and to those he left behind. I hope his classmates will think good and hard about the way they treated him and realize the immense harm "playful teasing," not to mention heterosexist bigotry, can inflict.

Best wishes to the young man's family and friends. I belong to a GLBT organization and bullying in schools is one of the issues we are working on. I also belong to the gay club in my city and have listened to people talk about how hard it is to be "the gay kid" in school.

Props to this site for helping to fight this kind of thing.

I just finished watching "Prayers For Bobby" and it was so touching and tragic. It is a shame that someone so bright and beautiful thought that he would rather be dead than face the world as a gay person. He would have learned to be tough on the outside and soft on the inside if he decided to live.

Life with no rights and being made fun of and the constant malignment by different sources, has all made us a vibrant, strong community and we need to keep pushing for what will make us truly equal. We aren't going away.

Such a tragic loss! All the more reason we need hate crimes legislation.

Default I am srry

The loss of a loved one due to suicide is horrible. I am a closet gay and I have felt what that young man went through just like we all probably have. I pray that the family will stay strong for one another and I pray that the people all over the world that torment kids for various reasons and in my opinion the main one would be being gay would realize that what they do does hurt people and causes people to do things. This is a harsh world we live in with some mean people but I am glad we have this forum so we can have people here encourage us to carry our crosses and keep going with life no matter what. I like this forum because almost everyone here knows what I am going through and they can help me handle my problems. If anyone who may read this who may be sucidal talk to someone b4 you make the biggest mistake. I have lost friends to suicides as well and it is very hard to handle.

Angry Poor Kid!

This is exactly what happens when you force someone to hide who they really are and be something they're not.
