Default Southern Baptists eject church over gay issues

from USA Today:

The Southern Baptist Convention has broken its 127-year-old ties with a Fort Worth baptist church because the SBC views its stand on homosexuality as too lenient, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports and The Baptist Press report.

The action against the 2,000 member Broadway Baptist Church came with no discussion at the annual SBC meeting in Louisville.

Just read this story on Towleroad. Looks like ties were severed over the church having two gay persons involved in church business. Deep in the heart of Texas, a church is standing up for it's gay members. That's something!

Friends,
I believe lots of good things are happening in Texas! Last year I was part of the Soulforce Team at the United Methodist General Conference that was held in Ft. Worth. I got to spend two weeks there and meet local folks. It turns out that an old (heterosexual) college friend of mine is Pastor of a UCC congregation in Ft. Worth that is gay-friendly. We heard about Broadway Baptist then. We met local gay activists, and local gay-friendly United Methodists.

I saw some recent news about a Dallas/Ft Worth Methodist Pastor who made a bit of a media splash with a gay-affirming sermon at her church.

Post He's Moving

I read the article. It's amazing that God is moving in a conservative state such as Texas. I was stationed there (San Antonio) went I was in the service.

Although I can't seem to locate the article right now Kirkwood Baptist here in East Atlanta got kicked out of the SBC pretty much for deciding to serve the community they were right in the middle of, which at the present time is predominantly gay. It's thriving. It has K through 12 school also.
