From antiochian:
"No offense to the good Catholics of this forum, or of the world, but I shall speak my mind. A church that protects child molesters at the expense of children, as prominent Catholic hierarchs have done, has absolutely, positively no business making moralistic statements about anything."

I'd like to add to that. I've never liked this attitude that sexual morals are the only morals that matter. It's not just the Catholics. It bugs me that these Republican Evangelist Christians make a big fuss about sexual morals and pretty much ignore the crimes of those Wall Street bandits who crashed the economy and wrecked a lot of people's lives.

I do know that not all Catholics and Christians are intolerant towards GLBT people. My friend Pat is a good Catholic lady who is okay with gays and gay marriage. She and her boss just moved into a new office that is right next door to the city's gay club. Someone asked Pat if she wasn't nervous about that. Pat said nah; the gay guys she's met are really nice fellows.

Well... there's been a few times where I've steered away from showing how the Wiccan Rede fits in with what Jesus taught for that reason...

I kinda felt that way at first too... but when focusing on just arguing against blatant bigotry and defining my arguments within the context of Catholic teachings... it's actually pretty easy to get some people out of the anger/hate mode, which is very much against the teachings of the RCC (regardless of how individuals or the Church Hierarchy may behave at times), teachings that a Catholic, by definition, is to hold as being infallible.

When in Rome...

Other sorts of anti-LGBT "supposedly Christian" fanatics, however, I tend to avoid because they know no law higher than themselves.
