Default Organized homosexuality?

Sometimes I visit far-right news sites to read their views on LGBT equality. (It's kind of like when you can't turn away from an auto accident) It's amazing what some of these folks say about LGBT rights. The hatred and ignorance is truly unbelievable.

One site I visited this afternoon said that a rally was held Monday by a group of pastors in front of the Human Rights Campaign Headquarters in Washington DC to protest the Hate Crimes law and "organized homosexuality."

They've got to be joking. They're protesting "organized homosexuality?"

Hey Pastors. I'm sorry to inform you guys of this but you're about forty years too late for that one.

Try again.

"Organized homosexuality" in Washington DC

Alternatively we could call it "Organized Bovine Excrement."

On the surface I find this story amusing that anyone in 2009 would publicly announce that any group of people should not be allowed to organize.

But what's disturbing about this story is that these pastors actually believe that since the Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination, gays should not be allowed to gather as an organized group.

I think this is a good example of how some human brains have lost the adequate censorship of reason and rational thinking. When the reality checking censor is suspended, the brain becomes capable of believing anything no matter how absurd.

Psychologist Dr. Stephen Frederick Uhl says:

"To the extent that the guiding and censoring control of reason is suspended when awake, the likelihood of irresponsible behavior increases. This is so whether reason's control is weakened by drugs, tiredness, brain damage, emotional disturbance, or unrealistic natural or supernatural tenets of faith. Nightmarish behavior can result."

The suspension of reason happened on a large scale in Germany in the 1930s and 1940s when the Nazis were in control. Jews were blamed for the moral decline of Germany. Jews were forbidden to organize, use public transportation, go to school, enter a public park, sit on a public bench, swim in a public pool, hold public office, marry non-Jews, or own property. By Spring 1945 six million of them had been exterminated and 50 million people worldwide were dead.

In 2009 in some Muslim theocracies, organized homosexuality is outlawed and homosexuals are publicly executed.

Speaking of the far right, has anyone seen the documentary "Gay Republicans?" No offense to anyone here who is R. But wow. A couple of those guys were just stupid. The lesbian and Ariz. Rep. Steve May seemed cool, though (not to mention that Rep. May is quite adorable...)

I just saw this for the first time a week or so ago, and spent the majority of the time cursing at the TV.

I hereby grant all gay republicans and heterosexuals "personhood" in my mind and in my heart. Everyone is capable of foolishness and of wisdom.

I like to quote the opening line from "I Am the Walrus" and mix up the pronouns:

"I am he as you are she and she is me and we are all together".

Love gave me life along with everyone else, not apart from.

There is no "They". I have to remind myself of this every day often all day long.

I'll hold out my hand in fellowship palm up. Some won't spit in it.
