So, my family consists of very conservative Christians. All believe that homosexuality is a choice - a sinful choice. I also know many others who feel the same way.
One day, I was talking to a family member, and some how we got on the topic of Clay Aiken. I don't remember the exact conversation, but at one point she happened to say, "It's not like it was a surprise when he came out...he's obviously gay." Then another time, I heard my mother talking about a girl she met and she said, "I could tell she was gay. Many have strong facial features." I still have no idea what she meant by this. Anyways, it's common to hear these type of comments from those who believe homosexuality is wrong. So one day I was thinking about these comments my family had made. I didn't understand how they could say that. That is pretty much saying that there are qualities gay people have that straight people don't. These qualities aren't something someone can just make themselves have, yet things that they are born with. How can they believe they can determine whether a person is gay or not based on their looks and behavior (given that they aren't openly saying they are gay), yet deny the fact that they are born that way? |

These same folks may be the same ones that say it's nurture not nature. If you don't flame or wear your hair in a lesbian mullet and they don't see you holding hands or kissing your honey how is anyone going to tell? And what about our metrosexuals? And what's to be made of 'bromance'?

Mullets are so last season. I wear a buzz(my honey does it with electric sheep clippers). Sometimes in hot weather I cover my buzz with confederate flag or camo bandana. In cold weather I wear a blaze orange watch cap. I also have camo and Bawlmer Orioles gimme caps.

It's an erroneous lableing of what gay and lesbian people are supposed to look like. I'll never forget the day when a few of my friends were shocked
when I came to a few events dressed in women's clothing. Transgender people like myself run the gamut because we are so varied and diverse. So are gay and lesbian folks. orn. There's no question that homosexuality and transgenderism are inborn. I'm thankful for the opportunities presented to educate folks about this and look forward to doing more. Gennee

I think there are some group mannerisms and lingo that are acquired. Transplant someone from the north and put them in a group with a bunch of southerners, most will pick up a little bit of a southern accent or be able to mimic one quite well.
I met a guy a few years back in the bar that had just came out not too long before. He seemed quite masculine and conservative in personality. Lost track of him for a few years then caught up with him again, he was flaming! Had a pronounced lisp and an overtly flaming personality. I'm a pretty conservative guy. Most people don't know unless I tell them. Talk to my partner for 5 minutes and you would have no doubt that he is gay. |

LOL Red Neck......I just purchased my 3rd Crockpot. I now have one for a whole chicken, a regualr sized one for other items, and a little one for dips and such. My conversion to Lesbianism is now complete. However, it is interesting to note I only owned one Crockpot and hardly ever used it before I met my wife. I guess that means me being a lesbian is all her fault!
