Default From Daily Kos: Bad news/good news

The post below appeared on The Daily Kos today. While at first it is horrible to read, the comments are extremely heartening. I thought some of the good folk here might like to add their particular voices to the conversation there.

Cheers!

What would have happened if the nephew was attacked or worse? Outing him could have put him in danger. Don't worry. Somewhere down the line that kid will get his.

Hi, Gennee!

I share your concern, too.

I was just at the Democratic Underground and found a post with a follow-up to this story. It linked to the full post at The Daily KOS. The aunt has been keeping a diary about this.

The aunt drove her nephew's car to his parents' place. She was accompanied by a friend who drove so she could sleep. Part of the purpose of the trip was to bring back the nephew's possessions. When the aunt got to the parents' place, she found that they'd given away almost all the nephew's stuff.

The house was full of the parents' church friends. Their attitude is that the nephew is sick and needs to be cured.

The poor aunt is just beside herself. And she is just being so great sticking up for her nephew. I wish both these people the best.

I just tried to get into the link and can't get into it right now. I suggest people try to get to the update on this story, to get the full picture. It's unbelievable the way the nephew's parents are being.

Thank God the Lord saw to it that this young man had a supporting Aunt. She is there for a reason.

I have never understood how you can carry a child under your heart and then just kick them to the curb. Hateful people. I cried when I read this story.

This is what's so heartbreaking, Tymejumper. Some of these kids are preyed upon by people who don't have their best interests at heart. It shows how people are so indoctrinated by others about LGBT people being less than human. A question I pose is how many of these parents know anything about gay, lesbian, bi, and transgender issues.

Its very sad. What angers me is that they questions us gay parents on how we raise our children, but if they come out straight to us, we dont kick them out of the house, disown them and give away their stuff.
