Fabulous... I should post my Theology paper when I get it back. It's about... you guessed it! Misinterpretations of the Bible and how they're used against GLBT people! =) Any interest?

Does anybody in Soulforce believe that sexual relations apart from lifelong monogamy is wrong?

Conservative Christians point to gay relationships and say, "See they always break apart. That means they are bad." But those same conservatives do all they can to undermine those relationships. Just a side point. Lesbian couples statistically are more mongamous and have a lower break-up rate than do heterosexual couples.

How do conservative Christians explain the divorce rate among Christians? It's about the same as among secular folks. That's really sad because Christians should exemplify what marriage is.

James, you will find a great variety of opinions here among the members of Soulforce forums. Soulforce is not monolithic. Asking this type of question, would be like asking you, an evangelical christian, to speak for ALL evangelical christians, or all protestant denominations.

Did protestantism arise from the seven words "Rome has spoken. The matter is settled"? It could be viewed as clergy within the church calling B.S.

Sex is beautiful and varied. Do you find beauty in flowers and peacock feathers? They are all about sex. Peacocks and flowers are not monogamous Monogamy is a label creted by some humans, but is actually very rare. Serial monogamy is an oxymoron and misleading. getting married , divorcing and remarrying is serial polygamy. I made love with two of my boyfriends an hour ago. We are a family. We share the gift of the capacity for intimacy with each other creating magic, security and peace.

I honestly believe that some people do better with monogomy and others with open relationships or polyamourous relationships.
I have experienced both polyamourous and monogomous relationships and for me, it is most fufilling for me to express my sexuality in a monogomous one. Sex is never wrong if you are honest and loving about it weather you are in a monogmous relationship or not.

Come on. I bet there are at least a few peacock and flower couples that are in committed relationships.

I've heard that swans and wolves mate for life but I don't know if it's true. As a joke I say I was raised by gay wolves. So am I a wolf among sheep or a dawg amongst poodles? It really doesn't matter.

Just seeing the word WRONG is like stumbling over something. It trips one up. I am sure that there are couples who are so crazy for each other that it doesn't occur to them to have sexual experiences outside the relationship. But this isn't a negative prohibition. Rather, it is self-sustaining. Lastly, I think it takes a very 'awake' individual to navigate the currents of sexual desire. Why? It is all too easy to objectify another person, which can lead to destructive mental states like jealousy, possessiveness etc. Compassion for one's self and others, on the other hand, has something of a light touch.

Let me share something my (straight) cousin told my sister. She was talking about how Christians are told to save themselves for marriage. In her case, when she did get married, the man turned out to be a total jerk. The marriage ended. She had saved herself for a jerk, and she regretted it.
I think each person makes his/her own choice on the matter. In the case of many same sex couples, if they waited for marriage, which presently is unavailable in 45 states, not to mention other countries where same sex marriage is illegal, they'd probably be waiting indefiniately. Of course, sex is no doubt better when experienced between people who have a loving commitment to each other. But I don't believe we have to save ourselves for marriage. Neither do I believe that sex is strictly for procreation, as conservative Catholics and many other Christians do.
