Default I'm Still Yours

This weekend I went to a Casting Crowns concert, which was amazing, as usual. The two opening acts were Kutless (another amazing band) and Caleb (Stephen Curtis Chapman's son). Anyways, there is always such a great atmosphere and feeling at Christian concerts, and every time I attend one I leave feeling refreshed and energized and renewed; this time was no different. It made me take a break from my moping and my anger and hurt over the situation with my girlfriend (I had a recent encounter with her parents...it ended worse than usual), it was a reminder of the wonderful things God has done in my life. While I am struggling right now, I know that my Lord has wonderful things planned for my life. One of Kutless' songs, I'm Still Yours, really made me think, and I'd like to share the lyrics with you. (you really should look it up and listen to it, its a great song)

If You washed away my vanity
If You took away my words
If all my world was swept away
Would You be enough for me?
Would my beating heart still sing?

If I lost it all
Would my hands stay lifted
To the God who gives and takes away

If You take it all
This life You've given
Still my heart will sing to You

When my life is not what I expected
The plans I made have failed
When there's nothing left to steal me away
Will You be enough for me?
Will my broken heart still sing?

If I lost it all
Would my hands stay lifted
To the God who gives
And takes away

If You take it all
This life You've given
Still my heart
Will sing to You

Even if You take it all away
You’ll never let me go
Take it all away
But I still know

That I'm Yours
I'm still Yours

Oh, I'm Yours
I'm still Yours
I'm still Yours

The reason I'm sharing this song is because it reminded me that we are all in God's hands, He is never letting go of any of us. Although I feel lost and alone right now, and I'm missing my girlfriend terribly, God is still with me, He is always there for me. He can give me strength and protect me from harm. I may feel like I've lost it all, but that doesn't mean I should give up on God, he hasn't given up on me. And I think this is a reminder we could all use sometimes-thats why I'm sharing it with you-because we all get caught up in our day to day troubles and forget that the Lord is more than all of that. God is more powerful than anything or anyone else, and He is on our side, He loves us, He will never let us go.

God is all powerful, He knows everything about us, He knows exactly how I feel at every minute of every day; and He knows how to fix things much better than I do. Sometimes I think I know best, but He created me, He knows me better than I know myself, and I just need to remember to rely on Him rather than on myself.

Hi Celestial. I'm sorry to hear about you and your girlfriend. We'll have tribulations but God's still in control. Keep your chin up.

Those are some beautiful lyrics. It reminds me of Job's story. God allowed everything to be taken from Job but Job still praised and worshipped God.

I used to listen to christian rock in high school because i was baptist and other music was "the devil" (-:

I still like some of that 80's christian rock like Amy GRant Twila Paris, etc.
I don't know any of the newer stuff though. I'll have to check it out.
Mostly I like my gospel music of the bluegrass variety.

I went to high school with a girl who became a singer. She was in the christian rock band Sierra.

I love Amy Grant, I think her music is great. I've never heard of Sierra, I'll have to check them out sometime.

I must say, the presence of bluegrass in my life is sadly lacking-not very popular among anyone I know. I do enjoy it though
