I was invited to join Covenant College's Alumni website and like a fool I did. I tried to set up a thread for gay alumni & they shut it down. This led us to a discussion of the violent theology & attitude the denomination and the college promotes toward LGBT people.

Now I am blue, haunted by the rejection of the sadistic god of Calvin, the friends who think I'm predestined to hell...

The blogspot has helped me to claim my freedom of expression. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for pointing me to your blog, revtj, and I have added it to my favourites. I hope you find healing after the whole rotten experience and can go on getting the word out, as it needs to be.
PS I particularly liked your post from May 26, with the picture of the laughing Christ. I too, like to think that the Universe has a sense of humour, indeed must have given the crazy things out there, and that clean laughter is one of our greatest gifts, and greatest tools to buoy us when the nastys come out.

This case of the blues after my experience on the Covenant College alumni website has given me a renewed appreciation for the bravery of the Soulforce Equality Riders. I just want to say thank you to them again because the issues this has brought up for me had been dormant for a long time. The empathy I feel now for that/those LGBT student(s) at christian colleges has skyrocketed.

While the Rides were going on, I was supportive but not invested. Now I feel I missed an opportunity. Yet I also learned again that we cannot live our lives looking in the rear view mirror. We must summon the courage NOW to ask for and expect change, & demand an end to the violence.

Thanks again to all of you for what you did. It definitely made a huge difference for a lot of people.
