Hey Jen, I usually don't balk at getting rained on unless I am wearing something special that could be ruined, like for a concert or something. So for this trip, the only thing that concerns me is, it's been several months since I've been exposed to a temperature lower than 78 degrees, I'm just afraid I'd be shocked into hypothermia if I got rained on and it wasn't at least 90 out!
Nah, I'll probably love it! Daniel, that apartment sounds beautiful! What's your square footage? If ya don't mind me askin? I knew I was not a NYC person early on. I need space, and even more than space, I need quiet. As much as I hate the desert, and as right-wing as the politics are out here, it's a great place for me with regard to space and quiet! We were lucky, in a crowded city, we found a 2000 sqft home with a HUGE enclosed backyard, we have 5 citrus trees, and now a vegetable, herb, and wildflower garden. And it is very quiet here. A very peaceful little corner of town, and many of the neighbors have farm animals. So different from suburban Jersey where I grew up! And a different world from NYC entirely.

My brother and his girlfriend are going to be moving into a really small 3 room place... it feels like you can barely move in there... and it's $1300 a month. Quote:

Hey Z,
The July Sunset magazine had a small article on places to eat in Seattle - although I'm sure your hubby has some picked out. Can't remember, are you a vegetabl-arian (my pet 'name')? There was a place that served oysters many ways, my first pick to visit! Also a restaurant (can't forget the name) that had no sign but only a pink door (maybe the Pink Door), you just walk in, looks like they had an awesome patio! Leaving for SF tomorrow thru Thursday for work, but one of my favorite cities. But...the trip I'm really waiting for - my partner and I are going to Chicago for a few days next month, we have tickets for opening ceremonies for the Gay Games and will watch some venues for a few days. Plus visit her college (Northwestern) where she is looking forward to showing me some of her favorite places there as well as Chicago in general. Maybe we'll even hit one of the Curve parties! I'm so excited, just to see the city! Not sure if I'll get email in the city, so if not and I miss your send off, have a great time in Seattle (looks like maybe you left today???)!!

Thank ya! We left yesterday and drove north to Vancouver BC. We're there now, about the run around the city and explore. When we get to Seattle I will keep in mind the pink door thing.
I'm a fish-a-vegetarian. Fin fish, and otherwise no meats. (well, lots of eggs.) Have a great time in SF! I LOVE it there, and only got to spend an afternoon once. Really would love to get back. |
