RevTJ -- I read this and wish I had more input other than -- I like it! I'm fairly brain dead at the moment and any intellectual or constructive criticism is just not coming to mind, but wanted to let you know how grateful I am that you are taking these steps. Keep it up!

Susan

I wanted to just agree briefly with Daniel- discomfort is not rejection, by any means. Sometimes, depending on the topic, if I feel some discomfort about the nature of it, it is because I am thinking about it, considering it from other points of view. That can be very uncomfortable, yet it can also be a slight crack in a door that has previously been shut. Even if your friends aren't sure what they could do, maybe offering support to your effort here is a good place to start doing something. Keep us posted, TJ! Peace, Vanessa

Unhappy Update

I have gone totally sarcastic on the Covenant Alumni site. Think Stephen Colbert does Betty Bowers...biting, high-powered parody.

Probably not the best tack, but I'm betting on Shakespeare's "How oft the truth is spoke in jest..." Certainly common sense and reasonable rhetoric was a waste of time. <big gay sigh>

Now I have a much greater appreciation for all of you who engaged Christian Colleges in the Soulforce Equality Ride. I nearly damaged my brain banging it against that wall. Hopefully, my labor was not in vain...

Not a waste of time, certainly. One must not forget the august history of 'camp' throughout gay history as well as the the way in which it casts everything in high relief and the way in which it shines a spotlight shining on hypocrisy. There is also the season to consider:it's time to go to camp!

Susan Sontag wrote a definitve essay on the matter.
