Cobra

I'm totally paraphrasing this, since it was told last Sunday. It just stuck to me enough to justify posting it a week later...

"A cobra was lying on the side of the road, depressed, when a saint walked by. The saint told him to go up the mountain to meet him. The cobra went up the mountain later that night to meet him, & was unhappy because everyone was afraid of him, & avoided him at all costs. The saint suggested he refrain from biting people. The cobra went back down to the road, taking the saint's advice. Gradually, people started to come to look at him. He lied still. Eventually some children came by, noticed how docile he was, & began kicking him. He remained still. This happened over a period of time. Every day, they would come by & do this. The bruised, bleeding cobra went back up to the saint's house, & asked why his advice was not working. The saint said, 'I didn't tell you not to hiss.'"

It's based on a passage from Deuteronomy, which I could probably find again if anyone wants me to (I always put the little service programs back on the table when I leave, in case the 5:30PM people need them).
