Today the Washington State Supreme Court caved in its obligations of unbiased fairness to its citizens by upholding the state's so-called "Defense Of Marriage Act" (DOMA).
The court had the opportunity to make history by making the MORALLY correct decision by striking down this obviously discriminatory law, but instead chose to take the cowardly POLITICALLY correct course by upholding it. To the court's credit, it didn't follow the same Draconian reasoning that the NY Supreme Court did when issuing its opinion. The writers for the dissenting position acknowledged that the state legislature could and should look at how much the law hurts our families. Whether they will shall remain to be seen. Now is the time to start writing letters to Washington State legislators urging them to take a courageous stand for human dignity in light of the Court's failure to. NL: Well, it's obvious that in his moment of self-righteous indignation, he didn't think that idea through very thoroughly. If adopted as he would intend, would mean that we'd have to come up with another form of government, because not only would it disqualify a significant chunk of current lawmakers, but make ineligible a huge chunk of the remaining male population anyway. But hey, that might finally give women the chance they'd need to take the reins of this country and lead it into a better, more humane future. Heck, they'd certainly do no worse the the patriarchal good old boy governing system we have now. What do you think Ladies of Soulforce~?? Zerbie~? Vanessa~?, et al. Peace & Love 2 U~ |

SBP: EXcept for having to watch out for the occasional Phyllis Schlafly or Condi Rice, I think it's a great idea. Some of us Feminists have been pushing that idea for years. -- Zerb, Vanessa?

Well, I wasn't trying to discriminate the guys and the girls, but I do have to agree. I'd love to see the women with a majority in the decision making policies. It couldn't get worse than it is with the boys. Unless Ann Coulter is on board; we need thinking women. LOL.
