Default Hello from Arkansas

Former pastor here, recently separated after 20 years of marriage. Not sure where it is in life I'm heading, it's scary and lonely. I'm thankful for good friends who are here to support me. I look forward to meeting new ones thru Soul Force.

Hello and welcome!

I'm glad you found our little cyber-home - there are so many caring and supportive people here. Sounds like a dramatic journey you are on! I imagine those changes MUST be scary and lonely. I wish you the very best as you move through them.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Default Hello

Welcome Hurky. I read that you're a former pastor and saw in your profile that you now have a medical career? What denomination did you serve as pastor in? What do you do now in the medical field?

Also two great Soulforce veterans are from Cabot, Arkansas. They are Mary Lou and Bob Wallner.

Hello there Hurky,

Being alone after that long can be scary and very lonely. Just know you aren't alone, sounds like you have very supporting friends, and you will always find friends here on SF forums. We are a very caring bunch! Here is a hug for you

Try to think of this time as an adventure, it is scary and often lonely, but think about what you'll be learning about yourself, like a trailblazer making a path thru the mountains - there are dangers, but there is also beauty, awakening, growth and love to find along the way. I wish you well!

Hi Hurky.

I'm a former pastor's kid. Not exactly the same thing, but I'd imagine that we have at least some similarities in that regard.

The "former" part means that my parents stopped working as pastors 6 years ago.

(sorry about the delay in answering your question - this past weekend was a holiday in Canada.)

okay, I kind of consider myself ex-PK, because I don't really have anything to do with my dad anymore... but I switch back and forth from saying I am or not....

The first Monday in August is a "civic holiday" in Canada. The only thing I know about it is that many people have that monday off from work.

And yeah, I had a good time. It was nice to just spend a day with the SO without any family or friends around. We walked around downtown and then saw the movie "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."

It was mostly good.

There were a few references to homosexuality I could have lived without as I don't find jokes about how "icky" it is to be very funny.

But it was refreshing to watch a movie with female (!) superheroes....even if one of them is a little mentally unstable.

Overall I'd give it three stars out of five. I'd recommend watching it if you have the money and time to do so.
