Default Hi, New here!

Hi my name is darkstar (sorry, I am pretty adamant about not using my real name), and I am really glad to have found a group/website like soulforce. What really brought me here was that I saw the group was from Lynchburg, Va. I happen to live in Lynchburg for school, and am recently starting to come out. However my family is extremely homophobic, due to attending a church that actively seeks out to harm and ridicule gay people.

If anyone has any links or advice to where I can find a gay friendly church in the Lynchburg area, or where I can find a group to meet with I would love it. My own school does have a GSA, but I am looking for something that can also help me deal with the spiritual side.

Thanks !

Welcome darkstar! Glad you found us!

I'm not to familiar with Va. at all... but I think there might still be some people on this forum from Lynchburg... maybe someone else will have a better idea of that...

Hello and welcome, Star! No sweat about the name thing.

RE: Lynchburg, isn't Corey from Lynchburg? Maybe he knows of some local resources?

Darkstar,

Welcome. I just left Lynchburg about a month ago. It really is a nice city. First Christian Church is a very accepting congregation. I was the youth pastor there and openly gay. Also that is the church where Mel White and Gary Nixon are members. Feel free to email me if I can be of more help.

Blessings,

Corey B
