Default AFA and the Ford Company

I'm not sure if you've followed any of this story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051215/...ford_boycott_4
It basically goes like this: the American Family Association : http://www.afa.net/ threatens to boycott Ford because of its support of GLBT organizations and events. Meetings are held, some are acknowledged, some are not, and Ford announces that it will no longer advertise in gay advocacy publications. AFA declares victory and says it has an agreement with Ford. Ford denies that its decision has anything to do with the AFA's pressure and extortion tactics. Leaders from the LGBT community and organizations meet with Ford representatives and Ford announces that it values all of its demographic audiences, and will once again advertise in gay publications. AFA distributes a press release (today) http://media.afa.net/newdesign/Relea...il.asp?id=3336 stating that they are considering reinstating the boycott of Ford.

AFA claims to have over 3 million members. Yet there aren't many voices out there pointing out the level of hatred coming from this group.
searching the AFA Site reveals that headlines contain at least:
459 hits on "homosexual"
94 hits on "gay"
37 hits on "lesbian"
81 hits on "same-sex"

36 hits on "love"
25 hits on "peace"
5 hits on "joy"
72 hits on "Jesus"
196 hits on "God"
13 hits on "straight"
1 hit on "heterosexual"

You can imagine that some of the positive words in the search still reveal a negative, violent subject in the context of the articles.

So if the AFA is so concerned about the "family" why do so many of the searches reveals such a strong pre-occupation with the LGBT community?

Default The AFA is a hate group

I don't think it is much of a stretch linguistically, to classify the AFA as a hate group, so I have begun referring to it as such. Of COURSE it is not working on spreading love or peace, it is a group meant to rouse anger, fear, and suspicion. . .or so I observe.

Yes, I've followed this whole Ford mess. Two minutes ago I sent an email to Ford Motor Company thanking them for 'seeing reason' and severing ties with the AFA, which as I wrote, amounts to a fringe hate group. I reminded Ford that the vast majority of its consumers value fairness, and are going to disapprove of them aligning themselves with such a shrill, extremist minority. A week ago I sent them a scathing letter of condemnation, asking them to re-consider their decision, so I feel a bit responsible for following up with a thank you now.

Yeah, what is Soulforce doing about this group? And how do they compare to Dobson's Focus on the Family group?

What would a soulforce action directed at the AFA look like?

and as far as comparing the 2, I'd say the AFA doesn't associate with Dobson because he's too liberal.
