Default a little more here...

I lived in Spain as a child during the Franco era and remember the feeling that you had to watch your step. Someone was watching you. So it's nice to see two men kissing and know that Spain is now watching out for it's gay citizens in a laudatory way.

This, as they say, is real progess.

Default It gets me all misty...

I get all giddy and teary when I see this article and the picture of the happy couple. It gives me hope... and seeing two people happily in love always makes me very very happy.

As a Spaniard this directly affects me as a person (btw, if you're wondering... I'm also Italian descended, hence my name.. so 50% spanish/50% italian). This is my country and I am pleased that my country has made such great progress. Though I have a huge share of disagreements with the inept Zapatero adminstration, I feel gay marriage was going to come with either the PSOE (Socialist Worker's Party) or the PP (Conservative Popular Party). Both parties basically supported gay marriage.

Oh if you're wondering the last time Spain listened to the pope, people were executed for being of different religions. Inquisition? As far as I'm concerned... the pope really showed how out of touch with reality he really is.

NJ Governor Would Reject Gay Marriage Ban If Court Rules In Favor

Quote:
(Trenton, New Jersey) If the legislature attempts to override the Supreme Court of New Jersey and ban same-sex marriage Gov. Jon S. Corzine said Thursday he would refuse to sign the legislation.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule any day on a case involving gay couples seeking the right to marry.
