Nifty - informal particularly good, effective, or stylish.
I come across nifty and thought provoking one-liners so often, not always profound, but always entertaining and usually thought provoking. I don’t want to forget them yet there’s no practical way I’ve found to save them for future reference. I thought perhaps this could be an outlet for us to avoid that frustration. Others will be free to enjoy them and use them and/or the logic behind them, and we ourselves will tend to remember them better for having secondarily posted them on top of initially reading them. Often useful for debate or banter, if I’m not quoting them directly I usually put my own spin on it, and use the dot dot dot (...) in order to skip parts without compromising context. (Unless I’m with friends or family, then I steal outright – unless pressed. )Feel free to add. Commentary or quotes, famous or personal. I think the goal here is in finding new and original expressions that are simple yet profound – or as it relates to persons of fame, those quotes that may be unused or forgotten. Don’t forget to consider adding personal spin off quotes or start spin off threads if something seems of particular value. They can be about anything, even negative anti-gay quotes, I think the measure here should be the creative quality of the sentiment. For the sake of accuracy and integrity I’m making a point to include links when possible.

~Don't go after the 5%-10% of marginal Republican leaning independents in the north, but instead the 1%-2% in very close races who can't decide whether they hate gays or gas prices more.
~I find it hard to believe extremist Christians don't hate gays when in fact they seek to criminalize their biologic nature.. ~Bill Clinton is not the president anymore. Jack Kennedy has been dead for years. No one cares about former U.S. Rep. Barney Frank. If Republicans want to defend your pedophile, go ahead. But stay on topic. __________ link1 link2 link3 PS Link however you like, that's just the best I could do right now.

~ It’s expensive to be poor.
~ I suppose the logic goes that if one person could change back to "normal" then none of the 6.5 billion people on the planet could be born gay. It's that simple. ~ ..always looking out for others ya little sweetheart (or you maybe a 350 pound samoan with a baboon heart?) ~ If it were a choice I'd choose homosexuality just so I would no longer have to feel guilt by association as a member of the bigoted heterosexual orientation.

Sorry I haven' had much time to respond to this thread, it's great though and I love the ones you've posted....
-Reality what a concept. -Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has. I'll find more when my eyes aren't half closed.

As you will see, there is no order to these quotes....
- My job is to comfort the distrubed & disturb the comfortable. - When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. - When you reach the top, keep climbing. - Every gun that was made, every rocket fire launched, every shot fired signifies; in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. -A right delayed, it a right denied. - Faith is taking the first step even if you don't see the staircase. - A family is a circle of friends who love you. - Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Ok someone else's turn....

If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in queer to work: "Hello. Can't work today, still queer." ~ Robin Tyler
I'd rather be black than gay because when you're black you don't have to tell your mother. ~ Charles Pierce 'You could move.' ~ Abigail Van Buren, "Dear Abby," In response to a reader who complained that a gay couple was moving in across the street and wanted to know what he could do to improve the quality of the neighborhood. The one bonus of not lifting the ban on gays in the military is that the next time the government mandates a draft, we can all declare we are homosexual instead of running off to Canada. ~ Lorne Bloch Why can't they have gay people in the army? Personally, I think they are just afraid of a thousand guys with M16s going, "Who'd you call a faggot?"~ Jon Stewart My lesbianism is an act of Christian charity. All those women out there praying for a man, and I'm giving them my share. ~ Rita Mae Brown Soldiers who are not afraid of guns, bombs, capture, torture or death say they are afraid of homosexuals. Clearly we should not be used as soldiers; we should be used as weapons. ~ ~ ~ Letter to the Editor, The Advocate You don't have to be straight to be in the military; you just have to be able to shoot straight. ~ Barry Goldwater |

~There are 6 verses in the bible against homosexuality, while there 200,000
that are about helping the poor and the sick. It's good to know where the religious rights priorities are.

Since you enjoyed the last one here are some more.
Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~ Ernest Gaines My own belief is that there is hardly anyone whose sexual life, if it were broadcast, would not fill the world at large with surprise and horror. ~ W. Somerset Maugham Drag is when a man wears everything a lesbian won't. ~ Author Unknown If male homosexuals are called "gay," then female homosexuals should be called "ecstatic." ~ Shelly Roberts My mother took me to a psychiatrist when I was fifteen because she thought I was a latent homosexual. There was nothing latent about it. ~ Amanda Bearse It always seemed to me a bit pointless to disapprove of homosexuality. It's like disapproving of rain. ~ Francis Maude The only queer people are those who don't love anybody. ~ Rita Mae Brown |
