Thursday's trivia question is still up for grabs. This one's low hanging fruit.

Default Sorry about Friday's Trivia Question

I'm not doing so well at playing game show host here. But I do have a good excuse for missing tonight's posting! Honestly!

The Soulforce staff and the board of directors are all at Mel White and Gary Nixon's home in Lynchburg. Tonight was the big final meeting. We talked about the direction Soulforce is heading and how we can issue a call to resist bad religion and how we can work to stigmatize homophobia. Very interesting stuff and I know the developments will make for some new discussions in the forums and elsewhere.

Anyway, I was in this meeting and we were all talking and I looked down and 8:00pm had come and gone.

I hope you will understand this slip and be ok with the final trivia question in this contest being posted Saturday night at 8:00pm. Good luck!

Default Thanks, this was fun!

Thanks, Jamie...

Stigmatize homophobia? Hmmm...how about posters reading:

"Homophobia is intrinsically disordered"

or

"How could you hate 40% of the penguins?"

Hey TJ,
I like your response - homophobia as a disorder :-)

Perhaps the results of homophobia need to be seen by the general public by means of newspapers, online, and other media. People could volunteer their stories & let our stories see the light of day, and metaphorically speaking, instead of hiding in the darkness of the closet.

EqualityOhio currently is working for LGBT rights & they have sent a booklet w/ LGBT stories to our legislative representatives.

Anyway, good luck SoulForce - our voices must be heard :-)

Default Final Trivia Question

Final Trivia Question

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the final question in the MLK Jr. Day Trivia contest.

Complete the following quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.
"In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with ____ _____."

Default Just going to guess here

This seems really familiar, but it's been decades since I read/studied about MLK and after an hour of searching the internet I didn't find it.

Is it, "redemptive love." ? It sounds like it should be.

Sorry, Zerbie. That's not the correct answer. Here is a parting gift though.

So, the question is still up on the board.

Default d'oh!

What was the quote from, anyway? Obviously, I need to re-study the topic. Seriously, I was 8 the last time I read this kind of stuff. At the time, I had huge chunks of stats and quotes memorized. But now, eh?

King used a similiar quote several times, but this particular one was from his "I Have a Dream" speech.
