Default Howdy

Hey! Just wanted to say hi to folks. I am a newbie here but have a feeling I know some of you from other on-line communities (and even in person!)
Great to be here!

You the guy who does the comedy routine about the ex-gay experience? Your name looks familiar.

Anyway, welcome!

Zerbie, you probably are referring to my one-person comedy Doin' Time in the Homo No Mo Halfway House, a piece that I use to share some of my 17 year experience in the "ex-gay" movement. I seek to do so in a non-violent way that does not attack anyone, just tells the story.

In May when I was in Colorado Springs for a show at the Gill Foundation, I got to meet wtih folks at Focus on the Family and talk about some of the issues regarding same-gender loving people and the "ex-gay" movement. One of them even came to my show that night!

Comedy is a great tool to engage people in dialogue. Typically after each show I have a Q&A session where we can go deeper into the issues. I feel so honored to be able to meet so many people as I go around and do the show.

Default That's it!

You're so correct, comedy is possibly the very best route for prompting new thoughts. If we come across as totally serious all the time, people take that as preaching, or further, as "attacking" their differing viewpoint, no matter how well intended it was.

Wow - 17 years of ex-gay therapy? I cannot even imagine! Nor do I wish to.

Glad to have you here!! Look forward to the insights you have to share with us.
