Default A NJ Pastor Acts Without Integrity

What do we do when a minister lies?
http://www.nj.com/search/index.ssf?/...ger?nnj&coll=1
The Rev. Vincent Fields says he didn't plan to speak out against same-sex marriage when he offered the invocation at the opening of the Senate session on Monday.

At first, he prayed for wisdom and understanding for the senators. But then, the Absecon pastor recalled yesterday, "the Holy Spirit took over, and I had to pray what he said."

What Fields said next -- on a day a Senate committee advanced a bill allowing civil unions for same- sex couples -- has gotten the pastor banned from giving future Senate invocations.

"We curse the spirit that would come to bring about same-sex marriage," Fields said in the Senate chamber. "We ask you to just look over this place today, cause them to be shaken in their very heart in uprightness, Lord, to do that is right before you."
He wouldn't have been given the opportunity to do the opening prayer unless he had agreed to keep the prayer non-political, non-divisive, and as inclusive as possible. He clearly lied through his teeth.

Call his office today and let him know you are dissappointed he would act with so little integrity. Ask him to reconsider his statement & position and apologize for his offense. Ask him to reach out to the local MCC churches and build a relationship with them.

A possible script...

"Mr. Fields, I heard about what you said on the NJ Senate Floor. I am dissappointed by your lack of integrity and hurt by the unloving and unGodly things you said. My request is that you issue an apology to the NJ Senate, whose invitation you disgraced and to everyone who happened to hear your unChristians words. I hope that in the future your words and ministry will be known for the love, compassion & care that you have for all people."

I called and left a message at "Greater Works". His business # was busy.
