Default Gay themed Movies

Ok, we've been talking around this subject in the Brokeback Mountain thread, and the Latter Days threads. So I thought I'd start this one. What are some good gay themed movies you've seen and recommend? I've seen plenty of bad ones. here's a few I've enjoyed:

All Over the Guy
Nine Dead Gay Guys
Saved!
Testosterone

Default Good list Jamie

I like Jamie's list and would add "Maurice" which is set in Edwardian England with a very young Hugh Grant.

Mambo Italiano (a gay style "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" romantic comedy)
Touch of Pink (same as above)
Bent (deals w/ Nazi persecution of homosexuals)
A Home at the End of the World (this one is interesting)
Saved! (Loved it)
Alexander (about the most powerful gay/bi man in history)

Talking samantha's picks

I have found that it's really hard to find a good gay/lesbian movie with quality acting, but a one that stood out was Saving Face. Very, very good. A fun one is D.E.B.S. - a spy spoof but with two very hot women as the lead lesbian characters! There is another lesbian movie coming out called Imagine Me and You, starring Piper Perabo which is a dream come true in my book!

Oh yes, definitely I would add Saved to my list. And I went to see Alexander, but it was just so violent that it was difficult to watch. I wanted more Alexander and Hephaistion and less human limbs and elephant trunks getting chopped off.

I would also add Kinsey to my worth renting list.

I'll have to check out some of these others you all are listing.

Besides the ones already mentioned, here are a few more: ( I guess I'm showing my age on some of these)

AIDS Related: Longtime Companions,
An Early Frost

Torch Song Trilogy
Boys in the Band
Lost Language of Cranes
Victor/Victoria

"Bent" has one of the most intense/beautiful "sex scenes" I've ever seen/heard. These two guys are in a concentration camp and are being forced to move 2 piles of rocks back and forth. They aren't allowed to touch each other.

On one of their short breaks, one of them starts to have a breakdown because he just wants to be held by his lover(the other guy), so his lover tells him to close his eyes and "talks" his way through making love to him.

"Can you feel my lips kissing your neck?"
"I'm running my hand down your back, pulling you close to me..."

It's absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.

The most recent movie I have seen with a gay theme was Alexander. It was a very moving movie.

Default Any good gay movies that don't require kleenex?

OK, I am tired of gay life being seen as sad and unrewarding. There are plenty of gay relationships that aren't that way. Yes, life happens and so does stuff, but you know, we make the best of it and move on. Life can be good in gay relationships. Are there any gay themed movies that have a happy ending or is it just too good to be real and I am being idealistic?

I would agree that 'Saved' is one. Then there are 'Birdcage' and 'Rockey Horror Picture Show' which are both just flat out funny... at least I think they are!

Heheh. I don't always think w/ my hormones LOL :-)

However, if I did, my fav movie would be Interview with the Vampire and Meet Joe Black. The latter because of Brad's beautiful body & the former because of the near kiss between Louis & Armand. :-)
