Default I ran across this scripture.....

and I like it, so I thought I'd post it.

I Timothy 4:1-5

1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

I'm thinking "God created me, and the Bible says that everything God created is good." I guess that says a lot about my value to God.

and the marriage thing: you know what I'm talking about

Default Thanks for sharing

It always amazes me how the Holy Spirit works to reveal wonderful truths to us through the scripture. I have been reading the literal and historical view of the interpretation of the scripture and the discussion has been quite interesting but I beleive that one important aspect has been left out. That important detail is the work of the Holy Spirit in revealing wonderful truths held in the scripture. Being a member of UCC I certainly adopt the historical view of this discussion and remain open to the moving of the Holy Spirit in pointing out so many wonderful things which make the word of God such a wonderful book. Historical yet living!

Thanks for sharing!

yes! and I found that scripture while I was looking for something else about interpretation and "clever" words and wisdom and foolishess. I may not have found exactly what I was looking for, but I did find what I needed to know.

Default Good one Keltic

Good scripture. It continually amazes me how much the fundies are twisting things to suit their own prejudices. Hmm, in light of Coretta Scott King's passing, it is ironic how much has been gained but also how much needs to happen for true equality to be a reality. It is a shame that it didn't happen in her or her husband's lifetime, or even Gandhi"s. But it will.
Thanks for the scripture. BTW, how are things in your neck of the woods?

You're right. A lot has been accomplished, a lot still needs to happen, but we'll get there someday... someday soon we hope.
