Default Here it comes

I drove down to Florida last weekend to meet up with four of my buddies where we spent Saturday at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. We had a blast.

Along interstate 95 on the way down from my home in North Carolina I watched as the countryside got greener and greener. By the time I was in southern Georgia the dogwoods were popping out and the redbud trees were already in bloom.

Spring is on the march and it's headed this way. So put that snow shovel in the garage and dust off the cooler because Mother Nature is fixin to bring us some beautiful days.

Rick

I think I read somewhere once that Spring Marches northward at a rate of about 150-200 miles per week? Is that correct or am I remember wrong?

u-dog,

That sounds about right. Spring marches northward this time every year. That's why we call this month....March.

Just in the past week trees started to sprout leaves and everything started to green up. It's beautiful! There is even a pair of roadrunners roosting in the eaves of our carport. Last night, while driving up the dirt lane, i had to be extra careful because the recent rain has called the toads out of their mud-encrusted winter sleep. I even startled a quail when i drove through our gate two days ago. They're soooo cute!

Also in the last week, the farmers have started preparing the fields for planting and the Water Conservancy Authority has cleared winter's debris out of the acequias (irrigation channels) which are now flowing with river water. About the only other indicator of Spring that i'm still waiting for is the return of our neighborhood peacock, calling for a wife.

I adore Spring!!!!!!
