Hi there. I found this site through youtube.com of all places. I did a search for Southern Baptist, and a Soulforce video came up. I'm glad that something like this is here. When people ask me if I'm religious, I usually say that I'm a recovering Southern Baptist lol. I know that there are more young gay men out there like me who still feel that deep seeded guilt from growing up in the Southern Baptist church. Well feel free to message me anytime, and I'll be filling out my profile info as soon as I post this!!
thanks! Last edited by TenorJMB; 03-28-2007 at 12:18 AM. Reason: typo |

Loud "hey" from a coloratura soprano.
Dunno if you'll feel comfortable revealing, but curious what you're singing and where. There are a few of us classical singers on here, we could do a Soulforce gala concert - you, me, and Daniel and we've got a great start already (Daniel's a bass-baritone type, I bet he'll find your post soon.)You've found a remarkably special and supportive place here. Here, you can express all kinds of concerns, questions, stories - we've talked about everything from religion, to abuse, to psychological health and medical diagnoses, to politics, to recipes, to just a lotta silly banter. I hope you'll enjoy the group and come back and hang out here often (we could always use another opera singer. YAY!! What kind of tenor? Lyric? We could sing some virtual duets, perhaps. )Welcome.

Welcome, Jon!
Cool, an opera singer, wow! I'm out of practice now, but I was a first soprano in the Fresno Pacific concert choir many years ago ... and the Soulforce Equality Riders are just about to visit my alma mater! Yay! I don't usually admit this in public, but some of my childhood was spent in a Northern Baptist church (LOL) ... though I now identify as Quaker (politically liberal, traditional silent meeting). Nice to have you with us! : ) Hugs, Sherrie Z Last edited by Sherrie Z; 03-28-2007 at 07:44 AM. Reason: clarification |

Hey, I didn't know we were starting a soulforce chorus ... Baritone here, more toward the tenor range. Love classical chorale, but can't claim to be "opera-quality."

Oh hey - noticed you're around today and thought I'd give a wave in your direction. Seeing as how we have singing in common and all.
Howdy.
