Angry Rev. Jeremiah Wright on Fox

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNTGRL0OJWQ

Rev. Dr Jeremiah Wright, minister emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago (the home church of Barack Obama) gives it back to Sean Hannity.

He makes an essential point, if you don't understand oppression and liberation, then read a book and shut UP until you do.

Sean Hannity is one of the most ill-informed bullies on our free airwaves. He feeds an ignorance that aggravates racism and subtly perpetuates white supremacy, all while people think they are watching an objective television news show. He is an entertainer at best but not worthy of being called a journalist.

Rev TJ,

Thanks for sharing this! I think Obama's Pastor did a fine job with an obviously hostile interview.

Fox news is disgusting! They are nothing more than a propaganda mouthpiece for the one-party state that bunch in the White House would like to establish.

actually... neither shed much light on anything (as you would expect from Fox News). but from the standpoint of who "won" their little tussle? Hannity ate the Reverends lunch. He played Hannity's game and he lost. You have to have a MUCH more agile mind and mouth to play that game (not to suggest that its worth playing). What was all that ____ about "Have you read any of Cone's Books?" Maybe one person in 10,000 listening to that show even knows who James Cone is (I studied Systematic theology with him and Cornell West back in the early 80s... so I do) fewer than that give a ____ . The Rev needed to be able to articulate the message and mission of his congregation in 2-3 sentences that any moron could understand and then wait for Hannity to make a fool of himself.

Thumbs down Yes, it's sad

Fox News has lowered the standards of journalism worldwide.

Rev. Wright butted in with the facts- it was rude but he was speaking truth to power. That ain't always pretty.

NPR and McNeil Leher is as close as I come to listening to news I actually suspect isn't propaganda. Truth is, I like Comedy Central's Daily Show & Stephen Colbert best!

Default Living the Diaspora

Dr. Wright is an amazing man. I took a class from him almost 20 years called "Living the Diaspora." It changed my life. And Trinity UCC is a phenomenal church. If you are ever in the Chicago area, it's definitely worth the trip.

Not that I'm real informed on this subject but what is wrong with the black community having their own leaders, churches ,communities and organizations. Don't the whites do basically the same thing? My feeling is, that many blacks feel if they don't stand up for their own kind, no one else will nor will they truly be represented by the majority or truly be considered equal. Looking at politics today, I would say they are right on target.. The Republican party has tried to undermine the Voting rights act, saying that discrimination is a thing of the past which is obvious bull.

And I will say live where I live and take a trip downtown where many minorities live and compare the living conditions, the schools and other things, to the predominately white areas of the city which are usually wealthier and have better schools , streets, hospitals, funding for their communities and churches..and of course better job opportunities.

Even in the areas where I lived which were considered better, I can't tell you how many minorities are working lower paying jobs to try to support their families. With the rising cost of housing, child care, food, gas, insurance, I wonder how they even make it.

Default Black Churches

The very reason that there are so-called "black denominations" is because American churches were historically whites only and denied access to african-americans and other minorities.
