Default Welcome to Soulforce

I guess one of the perks of being the webmaster for Soulforce is that I get to be the first on the forums to introduce myself!

My name is Jamie McDaniel, I'm 31 years old, I'm a gay man, I live in Lexington, Kentucky, and I became involved with Soulforce back in August 2000 when I attended a local group meeting here in Lexington. Having grown up Southern Baptist, I was very closeted at the time. I also told the Lexington local group leader that I really wasn't an activist!

I attended my first Soulforce national action that next summer at the 2001 annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in New Orleans. And that's where I found a passion for faith-driven activism. Now four years later, Soulforce is working hard to grow our community and I'm proud to be heading the internet team. It is my job to keep Soulforce.org running smoothly and assisting the forum moderators. If you ever have any questions feel free to contact me.

I look forward to participating in great discussions with you all.

Hey... thanks, Steve.

The new website had been in the making since we all returned from the Soulforce action in Colorado Springs back in May. Now six months later, here we are.

The things I am most happy about are the new navigation system, the move from a static HTML site to a dynamic PHP site, and the launch of the Soulforce Community Forums. We also gave the site a sleek new look while being mindful of who we are and what we're about.

Default Hello

Hello Jamie,
like the other guys said, thanks for being our moderator, and maintaining the forums. You said you came from a S. Baptist church. I know how you must have felt as I came from a fundamentalist denomination known as Christian Union, which is very homophobic. It took years for me to find comfort with being myself, and now I'm a member of a local UCC congregation.

Anyway, thanks again.
