Default I am a pencil.....

In honor of Valentine's Day, which I am proud to say I am still a fan of, I looked up quotes in my 1001 Meditations book that specifically address the concept of love. I came across a quote from Mother Teresa which I had never read, which was, "I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world." What a beautiful phrase and sentiment from another person who exuded love and peace. However, then I read one of the other forums today, about Virginia and the push to ban student groups, and I feel like a broken pencil. I get so discouraged for those in the name of God to say that we should not be acknowledged (meaning GLBTQ persons), when the God and the Jesus that I believe and give my adoration to love me and all of my brothers and sisters, and loves me because I am a kind, loving, person, and I give that to others, and I have a loving relationship that has lasted longer than any of the heterosexual marriages in both of mine and my partner's families. I feel broken when I read stuff like that, but need to either get "sharpened" or start being a permanent marker or a pen, because I (WE) are never going away. Happy Valentine's to any and all who celebrate it, and PEACE to all as usual. Keep writing those love letters from God! Vanessa

Thank YOU Vanessa, that is an excellent reminder. Those filled with hate cannot keep us from writing. What an UPPER for the day. Thanks again!

Hmmm. How about being a fountain pen? If someone breaks a fountain pen, the ink goes ALL over the place. So if they break you, all that love leaks out even more?

Thank you for the Valentine's Day wishes!! Hubby got me 12 longstem red roses. In fact, I'm so happy - he broke customer loyalty to a national floral delivery service and switched to a local business that donates a portion of it's Valentine's Day proceeds to our local gay rights group. He switched for that reason, and the flowers are gorgeous, so we will stick with our new local, gay-friendly florist.

Meanwhile, I got a bag of Hershey's kisses and have been distributing them around the building today. In the spirit, I s'pose.

Happy Valentine's Day to all forum friends!!!!

Default A fountain pen it is....

I just love the way that we all seem to think sometimes, so creative and inspiring. Yes, I will definitely choose the fountain pen, because I want to be messy and flowy and leave a permanent mark wherever it is that I spill over. Thanks, Zerbie. Enjoy your beautiful roses. I got a bag of heart shaped sweet tarts (my favorite) and my partner and I got the same card for one another, exactly, out of all the hundreds of cards out there. Freaky, huh? We are celebrating ten years of connection and togetherness this Friday. Have a great one- Vanessa

Awesome! Glad ya liked the idea!

I'm chuckling about you two picking out the same card for each other. My husband and I have done that twice. Once with an electronic card, once with a paper anniversary card. We've been together just 3.5 years total, and long since mind-readers for each other.

Default Agreed!

We have to stay in the moment as much as possible, I believe. You cannot change what has been before, only what has yet to come. If you are too focused on the past, how can a person fully be in the TODAY???
