Default Spontaneity is good for you

OK so here is what I did today. Last night I said to myself I want to see the sunrise over the ocean. So I took the first train out of town (4:45 in the morning) to the first town down the shore. I live in New Jersey so that is not too hard. I walked to the boardwalk, saw the sunrise, got some breakfast and came home. Here's the weird thing. When I went in to work at church, the first thing the secretary said was that I looked well rested. I actually only had about 2 hours of sleep, but the shore trip was needed. So I am curious what has been some things that you did at the spur of the moment that you are happy you did?

I wouldn't say it made me well-rested - but when my friend Heather and I were living together there was a LOT of drama in our lives (I guess we bring it on ourselves LOL). Anyways, one evening I told her that we should drive to Lancaster and get a cinnabon. It's been a tradition ever since. We have great conversations on the way there and back. I know it's silly - it's just a sweet, sugary food - but I think it's the idea that it's ok to do something for yourself and for your friends - especially when they need you. If you haven't had a cinnabon, you might not understand I think I'd rather see the sunrise, than have a cinnabon...but I live in Pennsylvania - and well - there aren't *any* oceans here LOL.

Great stories!

Other than the sublime (sunrise) and the social/gourmand (cinnabon), I also vote for childlike play and silliness. This neighborhood has lots of animals (goats, chickens, horses, sheep, of course dogs and cats) and when the horses lean over the fences I sometimes talk at them.

If strolling past a park and no kids are using the swings/jungle gyms, I'll climb around or whatever. Hubby & I play with our stuffed animals like little kids. And I'll tell ya this: people think we're YEARS younger than we are. Works better than botox. WAaaaay better.

Zerbie - you know what - I have a confession to make: I love Chucky Cheese. I know, I'm about twenty years too old for CC - but how can you not love a place the has Ski ball AND a bicycle that flies in the air!! I also love the swings at the playground. There is this GREAT park in Lower Allen Township that has a *huge* kid's park. It has this great wood fort there - and I love to run through it with the kids when we have picnics there (kids from church). I am pretty sure that enjoy way more than they do. However, I'm pretty sure that when they get to my age - they'll feel the same way Who says we have to grow up??

Why would anyone want to grow up? think about the few people who do... they don't seem to live happy lives.... so what's the point?
