I don't know much but I do know this. Until this guy gets in touch with HOW PISSED OF HE IS (and has a right to be) AT HIS FATHER, HE IS GOING NOWHERE.
This guy was abused. By his father, his mother, his uncle, his whole family culture. They may have been REAL nice about it. They may not have had their hands in his pants... but there was WAY too much sex talk with little boys in that family. He had no opportunity to explore his own identity and to discover who he is either sexually, emotionally, artistically, or spiritually. The result is that his heterosexual feelings are inextricably interwoven with misogyny (hatred or contempt for women) and his Homosexual feelings are are wrapped in homophobia. People should really need a liscence to procreate!!

Perhaps it is also helpful to see that his parents were also wounded and messed up because of what their past experiences and upbringing has taught them and what culture and "religion" has taught them as well. I read alot from self help websites(Ok call me the curious "psychologist" who has no degree in psychology, but I see psychology and spirituality as inner related)
From what I read off the inner bonding website, is our parents have their own issues, conflicts and unresolved pain, they act from their own sense of woundedness. Of course this seems to be pretty much true of everyone in society because we live in a society that is pretty much screwed up anyway. We have dysfunctional familes, dysfunctional religion, dysfunctional government, dysfunctional education, so we have to see these problems as collective and not isolated to just any one person or group. It's like saying ,"We all need help." None of us has come into the world without some trauma or unresolved issues whether it is past abuse or whatever..
