Smile My Two Cents...Again

Since become a member of Soulforce, I have grown much more knowledgeable about the purpose of Soulforce and the mission that you have. I am a transgender and crossdresser so it affects me, too.

What I have seen is that there is definitely the need to minister to LGBT students on the Christian college campuses. What grieves me is that LGBT students have to suffer alone and in silence because no one is willing to discuss the things that really matter to them.

I hope one day to become a teacher. My motto is that I will teach anybody. One thing the education system (from K through college) needs to come to terms with is that this not like forty and fifty years ago. There's much more diversity in terms of many cultures. Then there's sexual and gender orientation. EVERY student is entitled to top quality education. Every student is deserves respect and dignity. If my wohole class were LGBT, I would be the happiest person in the world.

There are nights that I lie in bed weeping because of the homophobia and transgenderphobia in the workplace, the campus, and in the churches. Jesus loves those who are oppressed and defends them, too. We need to continue the effort to discuss LGBT concerns with adminiistrators, business and civic leader, ministers, and the community. The very lives and livelihoods of LGBT men and women are at stake.
