Interesting comment
I was reading a book called "Our Tribe:Queer Folks, God, Jesus and the Bible". Reverend Nancy Wilson, the author, made a comment that I found interesting. I thought that I would share it with you:
"Church ought to be a place where people are loved, comforted, and uplifted, but also a place where we are shocked, shaken, and turned around. Also, a place where we can laugh. I'm not talking about giggling or chuckling but deep, roll in the aisles laughing. Not every Sunday, perhaps, but frequently. In the Middle Ages, it was the custom to begin every Easter Sunday morning sermon with a joke. It was the day above all days when we were to laugh in church, to laugh at the devil who had been uterly defeated and outsmarted." (p.60).
