Lightbulb Mpower Resolutions

I belong to a group called Mpower here in Albuqerque, NM.

Mpower's mission statment is to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STD's in gay men between the ages of 18-29, through education and empowerment.

Their new year's resolution is to be more involed in activism, they are looking for any organization or group to partner with. Spaning the Gamet from GLBT issues to polical and enviromental.

I am here looking for any insight you might have. I am collecting resource info to submit to them in a weeks time.

If you would to know more about Mpower
visit
www.myspace.com/abqmpower
Thank you,
Maruti Das

That's an awfully broad question!

Well they could find out about partnering on projects sponsored by their local or state LGBT group for starters.
How about providing speakers to give free presentations at community group meetings, etc. ?
Is that the kind of idea you're looking for?

Find out if GMHC, here in NYC or SAN FRAN has a mentoring program. Or at least info you can utilize.

See if your local radio stations have community based news or programs which might help you.

And of course, you need funding. What about your local gay bar? They might provide the venue as well as funds. You need a Sugar Daddy. Ask them to have an AIDS awareness evening once a month. Provide condoms if they don't have these already.

Get the word out in your local gay rag (do you have one?) about the rise in seroconversion in young men.

Write an article.

The NYTimes just had some press about this matter.

ABQ Mpower is sponcerd by NMAS(New Mexico AIDS Services)
They also provide free testing and condoms.

Mpower has been trying to partner with local groups here, but without much luck. So I was just wondering if anyone had their ear to the ground so to speak.

Tonight is Core Group, I at least bring up Soul Force, see if a I can't get at least a few interested.
