Default This is SO cool, TG man having baby

Thomas Beatie is TG FTM. He underwent bilateral Mastecotomy, was taking testosterone and had for all purposes become what his heart said he was, a male. He did not remove his uterus and ovaries.

He married to a woman how had to have a hysterectomy. She has grown children from a first marriage. She obviously could not carry so instead of finding a carrier/surrogate and the expenses of this, he decided to stop his tetosterone and carry for the couple. He is 6 months pregnant with a healthy baby girl.

Of course, the right wing conservatives are already calling them and the baby 'monsters' , they had docotrs and fertility experts condemn them. It was hard for them to find someone an OBGYN to help them and to purchase sperm from a bank, who also refused.

I happen to feel this is the ultimate unselfish act of love to carry a child even though you have finally become who you are suppost to be. This family has my full support.

Any comments?

My husband Charley is an FTM. He is similarly criticised by a few in the TG community because he bore, nursed and raised two children before he transitioned to male. They ask him, "How could you be male if you had children?"

Gender is between the ears, not the legs. It is a person's self-concept of the gender he/she is and how to express that gender. Most of that expression is cultural in nature and not sexual. And the urge to nurture is not limited to the female side of humanity.

I believe that people should have sole custody of their bodies and the decisions over what to do with them concerning the conception and birthing of children. This courageous fellow and his wife should be supported not undermined. I have often wondered what it would be like to carry a child and give birth. This lucky guy has had the experience from both sides of the gender binary. I think he is very courageous. And think how much they want and will cherish this little girl.

I find it sickening that anyone could criticize ANYONE for being kind enough to carry a child, let alone for someone else. It truly is the most unselfish act in the world. They have my love and full support too.

i agree i find it disturbing that anyone should ridicule or make fun of this couple. i think its a beautiful story and sure it is rare but who decides what is normal? he is a man now but he still has the oven so why shouldnt he do whatever he wants with his own body?
