Post Encouraging a sister in Christ

This past Tuesday after bible study, I spoke with a young lesbian woman who was struggling with her sexuality. She come from a conservative background which frowned upon homosexuality. She came to NYC to get away from that. I encouraged her to be who she was. She was wrestling with the negative vibes from where she came from. I pray that God will reveal His plan for Karen's life and that she understand that He accepts as she is because she is His child.

This was the second young lesbian I spoke with who struggled with who they are. When I think about it, I want to cry because this is heartbreaking and wrong. When parents reject their children because of their sexuality or gender that is disgusting, in my mind.

I do pray for Karen and I ask you to keep her in your prayers.

Thank you Gennee. Yes, it is heartbreaking, sick, and wrong.

I have met so many people who have struggled with this same problem due to what ignorant people taught them about themselves. It takes my breath away. It is psychological abuse and it is seriously harmful to both the psyche and potentially to the spirit as well.

Love to your young acquaintance. (Perhaps you could invite her here)

Genee I always love your posts. You're so kind and really inspiring to me. I'm still getting into the groove of things trying to understand all the details about GLBT people. Transgender I suppose is the one I understand the least so I really try to pay attention to your posts to understand everything about them.

This thread makes me really want to find a GLBT church here and attend it even though I'm heterosexual. I'd love to get involved and meet GLBT people and help them in bad situations and show them that there ARE heterosexual Christians out there that love them for who they are.

Thank you for your inspiration and love Genee

Chriita, there are many heterosexual people who are allies to the GLBT community. Thank you so much for your kinds words and you're desire to understand GLBT. I pray my little contribution helps. I'm so happy that you are part of the forum.
