Unhappy Have A Blessed Day.. Im JR

Hi Im JR from the Philippines

Im a discreet bi and Im in a same sex relationship for a year now. Lately, I've been joining this youth organization for Christian. I met my spiritual father there and I opened up to him my true sexuality and my relationship now..

He said this is wrong for according to the bible any homosexual act is condemnable. I've been struggling for this everyday. I can say Im a good person but Im afraid that because of my sexuality and relationship I will be condemned by God. i love Jesus Christ and I want ot follow his path but I just feel that Im walking away from him because of what my spiritual father told me.

Are we bisexuals not allowed to fall inlove with same sex? Is loving someone of same sex wrong? Are these acts really condemnable by God? These are few of my struggles now. It's hard to let go of someone whom you love dearly and it's hard to let go things that the only thing that you do is to love. I hope someone can help me in this forums. God bless us all

Default Welcome JR!

Hey JR. Fellow Bi male here. If you want to remain in your Christian group you are going to have to ask that they accept you for who you are. Otherwise, they will force you to end something that you will regret ending. As someone who has ended perfectly good relationships with men because of guilt and shame, I know this is a mistake. Love is hard to find and when you find it you should cherish it. There is no way a loving God would look down on this. THere are hundreds if not thousands of books that will counter what we call the clobber passages (the biblical passages used to condemn gay people). I suggest you start with the material Soulforce offers. Go to resources at the top of the page and you'll find some really good sources of information about this.

Good luck JR!

Peace,
K

Welcome to Soulforce JR
Congratulations for finding someone you can love; in this world, love shared is a most precious gift from God. From my understanding of Christ's teachings, love is the one thing we are supposed to follow. The Buddha says not to believe anyone or anything you read, until you test it for yourself and find it to be true; perhaps you have already found what is true.

Hi JR,

Glad that you are here on the forums.

Most people who call themselves Christians think that the Bible speaks against homosexuality. But most of those people don't really know why they think that. It is just something people have been taught since childhood. There are just those very few passages that could refer to same-sex relationships. The Old Testament regulations have been done away with in New Testament times. They no longer apply. And the New Testament never mentions anything about loving same-sex relationships. It mentions possible condemnations of pedophilia and prostitution but that is all. Most Christians have never studied the topic at all. A little education is all that is needed.

The book that helped me the most was Stranger at the Gate by Mel White. His story will bring one to tears. Also very Helpful was The Children are Free by Jeff Miner. My mom found The Good Book by Peter Gomes the most enlightening.

I am totally convinced that God rejoices in loving relationships no matter what the genders involved.

You live in a rather conservative area of the world. It might be harder for you to find Christians that are accepting of gay relationships than it is here in the United States. (Europe would be even more accepting.) My advice is don't let others tell what to believe; research the issue yourself. The anti-gay prejudice is one that needs to be challenged.

Anyhow, so much for the long-winded response. I hope you join in discussions and find the people here on the forums helpful.

Tu Amigo, Pablo
