Default What are you doing for Christmas?

What are you doing for Christmas?
What are you getting your loved ones?
What are your traditions? Is there something unique about them?

Then only a different, or perhaps the same, topic... What would you ideal Christmas look like?

It's that time of the year!

I'll start.

What are you doing for Christmas?, What are your traditions? Is there something unique about them?
We are doing a traditional Christmas and it's going to be a good year with just the family, the whole family!! We always do our main Christmas celebration on the 24th because my grandpa's birthday is the 25th and my brother's is the 26th.

What are you getting your loved ones?
This year, I ordered things through Kodak because I think that those are garenteed to be apprciated.

What would you ideal Christmas look like?
The exact same setting, minus all gifts that always go with the whole ordeal. I would love to do 'secret-santa' with a price limit, or no gifts at all.

I am so glad that you posted this post Jenn. I need advice because my brother, wants to come by my house for Christmas Eve and bring my neice. What is the problem with that? We had a few words about the fact that I was a lesbian, and he told me that "he had to protect his daughter from me" So, how am I to take it? He called my mom, not even me directly, and she told him that she was going to my house on Xmas eve, and he was welcome also if he wanted to meet my wife. He said he had no problem coming by. My mom thinks this is a baby step on his part, as does my wife. They both say that you have to change minds one at a time and that this is how it has to start. I am angry and that is that. That is one thing I am doing for xmas. The other thing is visiting my wifes family and they are supportive of us as a couple. Its exciting for my kids to see all their cousins and eat all the food. As for what am I getting my loved ones, I can't post that as Jester and Slice both post here and it would give it away. Of course my ideal xmas would be one where my family could all be happy that I have found the other half of my soul and am with her. Maybe someday......

Marry xmas to you all!

My wife and I, and her cousin are spending the day with my sister and her three children for dinner, presents and visiting. I was not really raised with christmas traditions, although I've always had a tree up and decorations. This year we baked cookies and bread - ok, I'll admit it, my wife did that!

What are you getting your loved ones?
Money is tight, so we didn't go all out. My sister is getting a pampering basket with bath items, CDs I made up, a Starbucks gift card, and some candles I had on had. We got my niece and nephews a little something, my wife's cousin got some boots (the fuzzy kind), a stuffed elephant I ended up with at our work Xmas party, and some nail polish. My wife is getting a Bosu ball, she's always wanted one. I got a new cell phone. And of course, our beloved pets, who really are our children, are getting new toys, treats and my little one gets a new sweater every year. That's about it!

What would you ideal Christmas look like?
White (why can't we have a little snow this time of year in Sacramento?). A huge family gathering. Potluck dinner. Christmas carols in the background. Presents or not - if so, preferably those nice handmade and/or well thought out small items one would never buy for themselves. But especially just a small bit of snow, say about 3 inches? Please Santa, can you bring us a low snow level tomorrow?

OK,

What am I doing this year for Christmas?Since I am not allowed at my family's home for any holiday, I am home with my wife. We are watching "National Treasure".

What am I getting my loved ones? I got my wife a remote start for her car. I got my daughters perfume, ITunes cards, videos, gift cards, etc.

My ideal Christmas? To take a trip to someplace sunny, warm and carefree with my wife for about a week. One year we went on a cruise to Mexico and Belize, and it was so cool to be sitting out on a beach in Belize 2 days before Christmas. Ahhh! or actually any place with my wife...

What are you doing for Christmas?
I am going to have lunch wiht some neighbors and maybe go to movie.
What are you getting your loved ones?
I sent my parents a folding frame wiht all my children (the furry kind) in it. They never see us and haven't emt 3 of them. I sent my nephew a gift card and personalized greeting card that plays music. I got neighbors kid tshirts and made these little gifts with a poem that goes wiht the gift.
What are your traditions? Is there something unique about them?
If this year were normal, I would have made a whirlwind trip to see my family and come home to go back to work. This year I couldn't travel, so I am here.
At home, the tree goes up Thanksgiving weekend. I usually cook sausage balls for breakfast.
Then only a different, or perhaps the same, topic... What would you ideal Christmas look like?
Probably like last year. I played host to 2 parties. One for my sci-fi gorup and one was a brunch I did for my firends, neighbors and generall anyone I knew. I also got to go home and see the family. Unlike this year, I had my hosue all decked out and the tree up. I kept it simple this year because of the kitten and puppy.

Course I would like to be able to just go shopping and grab things I saw that reminded me of people...even if I don't ordinarily exchange gifts with them. Last year I was walking through a store and saw the perfect item for an acquaintance that I would have snatch in a second if money weren't an object.
