Default Robertson's 2009 Predictions...

It is that time of year again folks for good ole Pat Robertson to have his "big sit down" with the Almighty. This year God has spoken to Pat and told him a great deal that is going to be happening this year. Well, maybe, that is if Pat "heard God right". I guess Pat is getting hard of hearing in his old age, not being able to completely hear what God is saying to him. I guess all those prayers for healing aren't falling on God's ears either....

Here are the exerpts from Pats conversation with God...

You can see the YouTube video of Pat's predictions too...

Pat Robertson: God says U.S. will accept socialism
Broadcaster's annual predictions also assure economic turnaround

Pat Robertson

Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, announced at his staff's annual prayer retreat that God told him Americans would embrace socialism in 2009 "in order to relieve their pain" and that the economy would rebound under an Obama administration.

"The Lord said the economy of your nation will recover," Robertson told a group assembled at Founders Inn on the campus of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va., a university Robertson founded.

Robertson said God also declared, "The steps taken will lead to a dramatic increase in the power of government. The people will welcome socialism in order to relieve their pain. Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the '30s."

In a follow-up interview he granted to Terry Meeuwsen, his co-host on CBN's The 700 Club, Robertson added, "It will be the largest transfer of power to Washington since the '30s. But people are willing to accept it because the pain has been so bad."

In a CBN-produced video clip containing both the predictions and the interview, Meeuwsen points out that Robertson has been right on his predictions before. At the beginning of 2008, for example, Robertson correctly predicted the year would include a world-wide recession, a stock market crash, oil hitting $150 (it hit $147) per barrel, and gold topping $1000 an ounce, which it did in March 2008.

n the interview with Meeuwsen, Robertson assures Americans that contrary to many economists' opinions, the economic recovery will be swift.

"Cast off the gloom and the doom," Robertson says, "because things are getting ready to turn around."

Robertson's New Year's Day predictions for 2009 also offered reassurance for Israel with words demonstrating that he had foreseen the country's military actions today in the Gaza Strip.

"Israel is entering a period of extreme crisis," Robertson said. "A strong government that deals forcefully with the Palestinians will bring international condemnation and sanctions against Israel, but the Lord will uphold his people despite world opinion."

Not all of Robertson's predictions, however, are quite so rosy.

Socialist policies and massive government spending, Robertson told Meeuwsen, could lead to heavy hyperinflation, sending prices through the roof and the value of the dollar through the floor.

"The Lord said the dollar is going to go down dramatically," Robertson said in the interview. "If I'm hearing him right, gold will go to about $1900 dollars an ounce and oil to $300 a barrel."

As a result, Robertson warned, "People are not going to trust the United States any longer as the leader in financial matters."

On a more spiritual theme, Robertson concluded his New Year's Day predictions by declaring that God says now is the time for Christians to expand their outreach and evangelism around the world, especially toward Muslims.

"The whole of Islam is weakening. The violence and bloodshed has turned many against this religion of hate," Robertson declared.

"There has never been, nor will there ever be, a more propitious time for the gospel," he announced. "People by the tens of millions will be seeking answers. They will gladly receive the forgiveness of sins that was bought by the death of Jesus Christ."
Now Pat has been right before, but he has also been wrong. Hummmm...that makes me think. If Pat is truly receiving these messages from God, wouldn't he be right 100% of the time? So if Pat makes a "prediction from God" that does not come true, who is lying, him or God?

ROBERTSON IS A FRIGGIN NUTCASE!!! He doesn't talk directly with God anymore than my dog talks to me. If he truly did hear from God then what he says will come to pass 100% of the time with no exception. If God is speaking to Pat then I doubt it is the God of the Bible. I think it is the "god" in his wallet that he thinks is the "one true god".

Peace,
Scott

Scott,

What are you talking about? My dogs talk to me...you are really missing out, man

Pat Robertson's beliefs and preaching are so ... odd.

Besides, the prediction that the US will become more socialist and the dollar will recover? Well, duh...I could have said that

Why is socialism touted as such a bad, evil thing by conservatives? (Real question). Canada and much of Europe have many things (ie, healthcare!) socialized, and it seems to be working out well.

Yeah, he also said that the world would end in 1982. F-R-A-U-D.

Wait, so...the economy will recover, except, um, sort of only kind of and then no it won't?

Aside of the inherent silliness of the whole thing and the Bible saying some things about not predicting the future, under Robertson Rules, if you predict something and it doesn't happen it still counts.

Quote:
He also cited information from God when he predicted on a year go that major U.S. cities would be hit by "very serious terrorist attacks" causing "possibly millions" of deaths.

No such catastrophe occurred.

"All I can think is that somehow the people of God prayed and God in his mercy spared us," Robertson said on "The 700 Club," a television show he hosts on the Christian Broadcasting Network, based in Virginia Beach.

"So did I miss it? Possibly," he said of his unrealized prediction. "Or, on the other hand, did God avert it? Possibly. But whatever, it didn't happen, so I think we can all rejoice."

It could rain unless the sun is out. People will die in car crashes this year. Pat Robertson will be taken away by men in white coats. This prediction stuff is fun!

Default get ready for a ramble

You know, the research shows that even the best psychics are only 80% correct. That leaves a 20% margin of 'error'.

Now. I haven't studied Pat's numbers, and even how they were kept, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that the man is perceptive as far as metaphysics is concerned. Big deal. My take is that we all have this ability. It's just that some of us are more aware of it than others.

As anyone who has sat on a cushion and meditated can probably tell you, odd experiences do happen- that is- psychic phenomena. However, most people don't attribute this activity to a deity.

Pat Robertson thinks Jesus is sending him telepathic messages about the future? Is he wearing his aluminum foil hat?

Now I am scared. If Pat Robertson says it, then it must be true! (sarcasm intended)

Ridicule aside, Pat Robertson's predictions reflect sound economic theory. A lot of people who don't claim to have heard from God say the actions of the Treasury and Federal Reserve will lead to hyperinflation and that such is virtually certain because of the explosive growth in the money supply (in the past 2 months).

I hope he's right about an economic recovery.

I think the best psychics- like TV- are switching over to HD in February. Pat's gonna have to get a convertor box to go with that foil.

I have a friend who tends to have a very metaphysical view of the world, and she's talked about what she sees coming in the near-ish future. I don't tend to think I'm particularly gifted or studied in that department, but I looked at some world events and environmental conditions and I could predict all the same things. I'm not really commenting on this, except to say that it just happened here too and that it's kind of interesting.

Rick336 knows all.

Here are my top 16 predictions for 2009. ( posted on January 7, 2009 )

1. There will be a snowstorm in the Midwest between January 7th and April 15th that will cause airport delays and rescheduling. Lost baggage will also be a problem.

Chicago got a foot of snow today. Some flight schedules at O'Hare Airport were canceled.
January 10, 2009

2. Chocolate candy sales will begin to rise shortly before February 14th but drop off sharply after Easter.

February 11, 2009 USA Today Financial

More than 8 billion candy "conversation hearts" will hit stores this year. You could pocket some profits on the 1.5 billion chocolate Kisses that will sell for V-day this year through shares of The Hershey Company. The candy-bar and peanut-butter-cup maker seems to be benefiting as consumers trade down from boutique-label imported chocolates. Hershey, one of the rare blue-chip stocks that are up from a year ago, posted strong results for its fourth quarter, boosting profits per share by 9%, to $0.59. At $35.80, the stock (HSY) trades for 18 times estimated 2009 earnings per share of $1.95.

3. Before the end of 2009 there will be unrest somewhere in the Middle East.

4. Between January and the end of December a US congressman will be involved in a scandal.

5. The cost of gas will go up and then down and then up and then down but not necessarily in that order.

6. A tornado will touchdown somewhere in the U.S. and witnesses will compare its sound to a freight train.

February 11, 2009

Oklahoma tornado leaves 8 confirmed dead; death toll

“There’s nothing left ... twisted metal, cars turned upside down, cars in trees.”
Harris, who lives just down the road from some of the most hard hit areas, said he and his family rode the storm out in a tornado shelter.

It really does sound like a freight train coming through,” he said, describing the roar of the devastating storm.

7. During a festival in a major U.S. city, a man will dress in women's clothes and ride on a parade float through the center of town.

8. In late summer all major networks will announce to the public a plan to air new TV shows scheduled for the fall.

9. Between January and November a LGBT magazine or newspaper will print a story about Harvey Milk.

Advocate January 24, 2009

Despite garnering only one nomination at the Golden Globes, Milk swept up eight nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards.

Milk tells the story of the rise and unfortunate death of LGBT rights pioneer and San Francisco politician Harvey Milk. The film took on a deeper meaning upon its release. On the heels of the passing of Prop. 8 in California, gay audiences turned to the film as a source of inspiration to keep the fight for equality alive.

10. Within the next 12 months a wildfire will flare up in California.

11. An American sports figure will be involved in a divorce.

12. A minister of a church in a state somewhere in the southeastern U.S. will make an announcement to his congregation that the media is controlled by liberals.

13. Hillary Clinton will not run for president in 2009.

14. Before the end of the year the number of babies born in China will increase.

15. Sometime in the late summer and early fall, a storm will form in the Atlantic with winds and precipitation seen as a concern.

16. In the West and South entire hillsides of small evergreens will disappear shortly after Thanksgiving. At this same time, retail stores will experience an increase in business.

Let's check back a year from now to see if any of these came true.

Rick

PRAISE THE LORD! HALLELUJAH! Jesus has spoken to Brother Rick in prophecy. (That was of course very tongue in cheek.)

Default Pat's predictions about the economy are already coming true.

But what would really help, would be if he could help me to learn the difference between these two president Bushs. I'm terribly confused, I'm sure it all has to do with the similarity in the names.

Let's see now here, there's George Herbert Walker Bush,

And that other one, that's George Herbert Hoover Bush.

I got that right, didn't I?

BC
I've been waiting for a thread of sufficient sillyness to cover my letting loose with that one!

I have an idea that whoever convinced Pat Robertson about the economic outlook is more astute than the economists advising Obama. I ended up voting for Obama based on his support for ENDA, but the talk of several years of trillion dollar deficits is already making me think I may have made a mistake.
